It appears that one can mount up to 4RU of equipment between the riser shelf and the desktop. Is that so? There is no mention of this on the B&H listing nor the manufacturer website,but the photo shows rack mount brackets.

yes it takes 4RU of equipment. tilted back at about a 45 degree angle more or less. There is also a gap between the shelf and the rack where you could stuff another 5th space if it's not too deep or tall.
