B+W 65-041222 overview

  • 1Description

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The B+W #920 wide-angle metal lens hood is made of black-anodized aluminum with light-absorbing flat black ribs on the inside and protects against contrast-reducing, uncontrolled, stray light. It is designed for wide-angle (zoom) lenses with angles of view up to 70° wide (approx. 28mm in 35mm format).

B+W 65-041222 reviews

82mm Screw-In Metal Wide Angle Lens Hood #970 is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for CANON 16-35L II This hood is the perfect replacement for the Canon OEM hood that comes with the 16-35L II. The Canon hood is bulky plastic and this is solid metal, like a Zeiss lens. More importantly, this hood screws directly into my B+W KSM nano polar filter and allows me to adjust my color. This is impossible with the Canon hood. As always, top quality from B+W.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect answer for me Used with an old Flektogon 20 4 on an Eos 60D. Seems to be the only answer if you want to use a filter and hood- 77 to 82mm step-up ring(as a spacer),filter, this hood, and neoprene cover. Problem solved!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for shooting with Vari-ND filter When shooting video outside with my DSLR, I almost always have a vari-ND filter on. Trouble is, it's difficult to gently twist the dial while shooting, because fingers get in the shot. Enter this lens hood. With this screwed into the vari-ND filter, I can grab the lower or upper rim of the hood, and twist while shooting without any risk of getting my fingers in the shot. This allows me to smoothly dial in exposure on the fly without any visible stair-stepping, which is impossible to do any other way while rolling. On my Canon 60D, changing the aperture wheel changes in full 1/3 stop increments, rather than smoothly. Even with Nikon lenses with aperture rings, they tend to snap into next stop loudly and not smoothly. Once you get used to adjusting exposure in small movements to your ND, you'll never go back, and this hood makes it possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made. Fits perfectly. I gave this lens hood 5-stars because it's well made, is lightweight and it fits perfectly. Tempted to knock it down by one star due to price very overpriced in comparison to alternatives. I bought this more expensive lens hood only because of prior experience with B+W products and B&H has a limited variety of 82mm metal lens hoods. But overall, highly recommended.
