StarTech UNISLDSHF192 Reviews
Heavy Duty, yet Discrete
Though I normally opt into just using the rails attached direct to device, this time around due to limitations with my UPS, I was required to use a shelf. Normally I would cringe at the thought of doing this due to the fact normally shelves, take up so much space, there common cumbersomeness, and normally, their down right pain to do anything with. This is not the case with this shelf, It was easy to attach, super discrete, I wasn't able to even tell I was using one. Only uses a full 2u without any overhang (from what I have seen throughout the years is a rarity). Its discreteness isn't shadowed by its strength, The UPS that I'm using is 55lbs and when fully pulled out the shelf its self, showed no sign of flex, even with the horizontal stabilizer positioned further to the rear. The only main flaw that I could spot was the over-tightening of rail bracket screws, I honestly thought these were going to "ring off", there wasn't any evidence of lock-tight, so honestly turn down the torque on the machine a little. I used a high quality USA made large screwdriver to remove the screws. To properly fit the shelf in requires these screws to be loosened / removed. Thou with any engineered product there are always room improve. minus the screw issue I can say this isn't one of those products. If your in a situation where you cannot use rails or just need a general storage shelf this is the one to get.
