I just bought this to go with an X-T30ii. The case fits really well, just a big snug, but I think it will loosen up a bit. I like the battery/card hatch. I have not tried to mount it on a tripod and am not sure I will. The strap feels sturdy.

This case fits like a glove! It looks great on my a7ii. most of the time I only use the lower half of the case and snap on the upper half when traveling or packing the camera. The case allows access to the battery, memory card, and cable access without having to remove it. Looks great too!

I purchased this to use with a Fuji X-T20 and 18-55mm. There are 2 problems with the design: 1. The vertical portion of the back is not tall enough, so it has to be pushed down to get the snap to line up and close the top. It does close, but it's tight on the flash mount and has a gap along the camera rear. 2. The snaps on the bottom are somewhat close to the tripod mount. My old tripod has a 2-7/8 diameter plate, and the snaps would hit this, meaning I would have to take off the case bottom to use on my tripod. If the male/female snaps were reversed, it could have been possible to avoid the issue. An additional problem with the one I got was that the snap holding the top to the bottom was extremely tight. It felt like I was going to tear the snap out when removing. The case is a lot like the one I had for an old (early '60's?) Pentax that detached easily by swiveling the top 1/2 turn from the bottom. I was looking forward to this same versatile design, but it didn't work out and am returning it. Appreciate B&H's easy return!

A snug fitting piece of protection

The case is designed to protect ample protection for the M50. Since it is designed to 'stretch' with regular use, it is initially quite snug. The most difficult snap to get in place is the one which holds the opening flap closed after each use. It was (is) difficult to snap in place. But it should get easier as the leather breaks in.

What happens with the top piece? Does it hang down or co,e completely fine?

The top piece is attached on the sides and the bottom of the camera. Most people will release the side snaps and flip the piece forward and down. Or the other option is you can release the bottom snap and fold backwards and down. Of course, you may wish to remove the top piece altogether if you are actively shooting and not on a walkabout.
