The green, angled-viewing TSN-663M 66mm PROMINAR XD Spotting Scope from Kowa features high-quality optics built into a body that is designed for reliable use under a variety of viewing conditions. Measuring 12.2" long and constructed from magnesium alloy, this durable scope can provide a wide angle or a versatile viewing range depending on which separately available eyepiece is installed on it.

Compatible Kowa eyepieces include the TE-14WD 30x Wide-Angle Eyepiece, the TE-17HD 25x Long Eye Relief Eyepiece, and the TE-9Z 20-60x Zoom Eyepiece.

While in use, the TSN-663M 66mm Spotting Scope's PROMINAR XD (extra-low dispersion) lens and a concave dispersion lens work together to minimize chromatic aberrations. Additionally, multi-coated optical surfaces help to consistently maximize light transmission, sharpness, and color fidelity.

A nitrogen fill prevents fog accumulation and an O-ring sealed waterproof construction further adds to the rugged design of the TSN-663M 66mm Spotting Scope. Conforming to JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) Protection Class 7 waterproofing, this scope can withstand momentary immersion, assuming the eyepiece mount is not open and exposed.

I got this to replace my 20-60x80 AL*** scope I've had for several years. I use this exclusively for birding.. I'm as happy as I could be with the clarity. Excellent glass quality. No more heat waves, and it really is high contrast and like watching in HD. Lightweight and easy to carry, and the price was right for me with 20-60 eyepiece.

Bought this for wife who is avid birder. Overall its a nice scope for the money. Purchased 20/60X eyepiece to go with it. She mostly uses the eyepiece in the 20x to 40x range as more light is needed in upper range to get clear picture. Scope is mounted on Manfrotto Tripod with video fluid head. It's a nice set up. The fine tuning knob is also easy to use. I use it for target shooting and it is the best scope I own now.

I needed a lightweight, compact scope for birding to take along on my bike or for hiking. Optically, this scope has excellent resolution. Coupled with a 30x fixed eyepiece you get a generously wide FOV. At this price point you can't do better.

Long Range Spotting Excellence

I bought this spotting scope to use for scoring in long range shooting. This requires a spotting scope to be able to clearly resolve bullet hole makers placed on a target face at ranges out to 1000 yards. The spotting scope needed to be light and portable and the 66 mm Kowa TSN-663 was around the right dimension and weight. I decided the Flourite glass was needed for the best light transmission and image resolution. So much for the theory of selecting the Kowa scope, how did it shape up under use in the field? I am pleased to say the image quality thru both the 20-60 zoom and the 30X wide eyepieces that I purchased with it is simply outstanding! On cooler days, (I live in Australia) that are mirage free the image is like standing directly in front of the target as the scope compresses the distance so well.I also take the scope slightly out of focus to view the mirage on hot days to get an indication of the winds activity. This spotting scope does everything I want and provides a very bright and well resolved image. Its that good I have just ordered a camera adapter for it to use with my Canon G12.One drawback with this scope is that you must purchase a protective cover/carry case for it. I think for the price maybe Kowa should have included one in the box with it.The purchase of this spotting scope has been a very positive experience ....The outcome of my experience is that I would definitely recommend the Kowa TSN-663 to anyone looking to use it for long range target shooting. ...

I originally bought the tsn 601 spotting scope and the clarity was terrible, so I exchanged it for the 663 and it is amazing super clear and sharp image. I have the 20/60x eye piec and it works great. Don't be a cheap skate and get the 663.

Great scope

I have owned several scopes over the past 45 years, have been using a Kowa 883 for the past few years, and believe it is equal to or better than any scope you can buy. I wanted a lighter rig so bought this with the 30x WA eyepiece. I didn't want to compromise performance too much for the weight reduction, so opted to not go for the 50mm Prominar. If I am in a situation where I am not hiking or biking with the scope, my 883 with the big Manfrotto aluminum tripod is my favored rig. But if I am carrying my scope any distance, this scope with a Manfrotto carbon fiber is my choice. It is not quite the equal of the 883, of course, but it is very close; anyone would be happy with its performance. Pounds matter more as you get older, I am very glad I bought this, and highly recommend it.
