    SureFire TITAN-B reviews

Titan Plus Ultra-Compact Variable-Output LED Flashlight is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another homerun for Surefire As with any Surefire the quality is outstanding, to get three hundred Lumens from such a small light is truly impressive. The size ensures you will carry it everyday and everywhere. It is solid and unobtrusive with three levels of available illumination. It is nice having it on your person and not having to go look for a light when you need one. I love Surefire products, I have them all over the house, in the cars, and bail out bags, etc. I did not get the quick detach with mine. I wrote Surefire and they informed me that they no longer include it as it did not meet their standard of reliability. Great light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Little Light I bought the Titan Plus for my girlfriend when she walks her dog at night. The lowest setting is good enough to be seen, and the highest bright enough to illuminate the street. The Titan is built well and solid. One point I don't care for, though, is to change settings, you basically need two hands as you have to twist the body and cap. I feel a push-button design would be much better as SureFire does with many of their other flashlights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, small, versatile and EDC light Excellent, small, versatile and EDC lightThe Titan Plus is a wonderful little light that, due to its' size and AAA power, is easy to always have with you. I have quite a few flashlights of various sizes and always like to have one with me as even during daytime I find myself often working in spots where additional light is needed. Having given up on alkaline-based incandescent lights a while ago in favor of CR123 lithium-based LED alternatives I fell in love with the battery life, basically unaffected hot or cold weather performance, awesome shelf life and powerful output. The only real hitch with them is the ability to find affordable CR123's in a pinch (i.e. overseas). Getting around this was possible by taking more batteries and the fact that due to physics the lights that use them are physically fatter than ones using AA and AAA batteries are. This is a premium light on all accounts. It is the first non CR123-based light I have used that is a possible contender for EDC use; the ability to use AAA alkaline batteries that are easily available anywhere is a great option. While there are other LED-based AAA lights I, prior to this, I had not seen one which oozed quality and was confidence-inspiring to carry like this one. The nickel-plated brass feels wonderful and seems as if it will likely be more durable than the anodized aluminum found on most other lights. The light came with a Panasonic Eneloop Pro rechargeable NiMH AAA battery and it i recharged it with my normal AAA battery charger perfectly. I have tested it using Energizer, @Basics and Eneloop XX rechargeable, Energizer and Duracell alkaline and Energizer lithium primary batteries and all of them physically fit and function without issue. Physically, there are many nice features. The light has a built-in clip which is very solid. There is also a removable keychain ring that locks onto the rear part of the light and this is nice for fastening the light to a keychain as it seems secure (time will tell) hook on the light while allowing for rapid disconnect from the ring. When removed there is a ring machined into the light if a more permanent connection is desired. Functionally, using the light is done by twisting the head. Turn once and it is on low mode, go back to off and turn again quickly and it is in medium and then repeat a third time for high. I believe the specs are something like 15 (low), 75 (med) and 300 (high) lumens in terms of output; practically, I find the low useful for basic tasks while medium is bright for looking into very dark areas. High is awesomely bright for lighting an entire room. The beam itself is very nice with a wide coverage; it is definitely floody and not spotty. There is no heavy middle spot for long throw but for the size of the head it offers a lot of output. Prior to this light I carried the original Surefire Titan (CR123) light and love it. It is not as bright but offers infinite adjustments. While I prefer the interface of the original Titan, the clip, output, battery flexibility and price on this new one make for what I think will prove to be a better carry light, particularly when traveling overseas where the availability/affordability balance of CR123's is not what it is state-side. The only places I could see for improvement are (1) the original Titan control with infinite brightness options and (2) a brass or aluminum keychain clip (the durability of the current plastic one is questionable). Neither of these are a ding or knock off 5 stars but I think they are worth mentioning. Overall, awesome light with Surefire quality, made in the USA, flexible power, great output and winning price/performance balance make this a light a winner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, extremely versatile, compact LED flashlight Great little LED flashlight for everyday carry (EDC)! Three, well spaced levels of output from a small, 1xAAA powered flashlight. The 15 lumen low is great for most lighting needs with the 75 lumen medium mode covering just about everything else. The 300 lumen high mode is really for that occasional burst of light or to show off! Runtime is quite good on low and medium for a light that is powered by one AAA battery. You will definitely want to power it by either the included rechargeable Ni-MH battery or a 1.5V lithium primary (Energizer lithium). Alkaline batteries will have reduced runtime on low and medium and will struggle to even produce the high mode for any reasonable amount of time. Like most SureFire products, build quality seems excellent. I've owned quite a few single AAA twist LED flashlights over time. One thing that I immediately noticed about the Titan Plus is than inside the head, SureFire has built a separate metal contract ring which then makes contact with the battery tube, thus completing the circuit. On all other similar lights I've owned, the contact portion inside the head as just been a ring on the circuit board which is prone to wear over time from the twisting of the two together. I'm very impressed that SureFire engineered its light in what looks to be a much more robust fashion. See attached photo. If there is one drawback, it's that the light is fairly heavy compared to other, single AAA flashlights due to its brass construction. Overall thought, I'm very pleased with this light. Definitely worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great light This is a compact light with big power. I bought this light for its size it out performes many lights 5 times its size it has three settings of brightness which is great for saving battery life. The clip on the end I am a little hesitant on it staying in place but so far so good. Sure fire makes a great product and stands behind them if you are looking for a pocket light with good power this is a good choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great light, as long as you don't have to contact SureFire I did a lot of research before deciding on this light. The light is output on high is impressive. Overall it feels solid and substantial. I found that steady rotations would consistently switch the output from low to medium to high. Functionally I really like the light, and like that the lens is slightly recessed so that it won't be easily scratched or damaged. Width of beam is medium to medium-wide, and is great for illuminating close up as well as distances around 7.5m/25ft. I haven't used it in larger spaces yet. I don't like that the removable pocket clip has sharp edges, especially the loop that attaches to the light itself. I've read other reviews that complain about this, and like some of them I plan to de-tune or sand/round this sharp edge, which is something I think SureFire should address in manufacturing. Even with this issue I would have given a 5 star review, but... My light arrived without the quick-detach keyring (yes I have the Plus). Upon phoning B&H customer support I was given the option to phone SureFire myself to see if they could send out a replacement, or have B&H contact on my behalf. I chose to contact SureFire myself, even though I had read that other reviewers had extremely long waits for SureFire customer service. I phoned at 8:04am PST on a Wednesday and the automated system informed of a 12 min wait. After waiting 24 min I hung up and phoned B&H back, and they offered to swap out the product. Yay B&H, boo SureFire. While the Titan Plus is a 5 star item, SureFire customer service is 1 Star, although that's just for an unacceptably long wait time as I ultimately don't know how they might have handled the situation if anyone had answered. Summary: this light excels given it's size and output. Highly recommended, but if you have issues with any SureFire light, reaching SureFire customer service could be a drag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best flashlight I have ever owned This is hands down the best flashlight I have ever owned. It's small enough to put on a key chain, which means you will have it when you need it and odds are you won't misplace it. It gives out three power levels, the brightest of which is amazing for such a small package and a single AAA battery. It's extremely rugged as well. As I mentioned it uses a single AAA battery and those are very common. The only 'quirk' I have found and it is just a matter of getting used to it is the twist on method of turning it on. You turn it to go on, which is fine, but you turn it back to off, then on again, and then back to off to on again (three times) to get to the highest setting. It's not bad by any means just different than what I am used to. I will be giving this flashlight out to all of my friends and family members as their Christmas present this year. Absolutely perfect for day to day use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just about as good as it gets This little AAA light is pretty phenomenal. It has a very sturdy build quality, great brightness options, and an easy user-interface: twist on, twist off. Pretty straightforward. The 300 lumen bright setting is shockingly bright, especially for a non-specialty battery. I love that all it takes is a AAA, which you can find just about anywhere. I'd give it 5 stars except for one thing: if you twist too fast between L-M-H it seems to get hung up on the medium brightness, and it takes one more attempt to cycle through to bright. Not a huge deal, but enough to be a little annoying if you're trying to be quick with it. All in all, a really incredible light, albeit slightly pricey, but one I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great EDC light that packs a punch and disappears in your pocket. I won one of these in a contest and within a few days of using it I had already purchased another one to give as a gift.
