Nissin Di700A reviews

Di700A Flash Kit with Air 1 Commander for Sony Cameras with Multi Interface Shoe is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 78.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from the plastic hot shoe is terrible bought me a set and a second flash since it was the only system for sony. While I thought it was pretty easy to use and for my purpose enough the build quality is really really terrible. by now both hot shoes are broken of the speedlights. once those are gone the thing will just fall around and now even the plastic battery door is busted. they should include replacement hotshoes for this product. I emailed them and the first response was positive but than after sending them my serial numbers which was a week ago I havent heard anything back anymore. if you can wait wait for something else

Rated 1 out of 5 by from horrible faulty flash This thing is great when it works.. but it doesn't work more than it works.. Ok so if you put this thing into M mode at HSS and try and set power at 1/1 it fires a tiny blip of light or doesn't fire at all. 1/2 or any other setting it fires perfect. Thing is I want full power sometimes in HSS which this thing cant do. Second, the thing only fires 20 times in TTL mode. Then it shuts off for 5 mins until I can shoot again. Shooting a model every 60 seconds or so only to be limited to 20 shots is highly annoying! the thing also randomly does not fire. Very annoying as ive missed some great shots. Worst flash I have ever used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nissan D700A for Sony have design flaw I purchased two Nissan Di700A flash units and have had persistent issues with the flashes refusing to power up even with new batteries. I'm being told by Nissan that there is design flaw and that they have to be sent to their facility for repair. Apparently, the four AA batteries are not consistently powerful enough to provide enough juice to start up the units. So disappointing to have to pay to ship the units back to the repair facility. They tell me that will send the repaired units back and if they still don't work they will send new units... Sorry, but don't buy these unless you want problems.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great when it works I've been using this system for a couple months now with the Sony A7 and when it works, it's fantastic and does exactly what you want it to do. That said, it's terribly temperamental. Both the controller and the speedlight don't just need new batteries twice in a session, they need the RIGHT new batteries or they'll inexplicably stop functioning. And there's not a lot of feedback about what's wrong when it's wrong--just dim flickering lights or the unit plan old won't fire. Wish there was a more robust option for triggering off-camera flash for the Sony A7 series system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice idea, bad build quality. This was the third unit I purchased -- the other two from a different source. All three had the same problem. The flash would work with fresh batteries but the next day it would take 5-15 attempts to turn them on again. The flash would have to be bound (synced or paired) with the transmitter again. It appears that the flash acts strangely after the new battery voltage drops slightly. I have googled this problem and found others experiencing the same problem with units reviewed after November 2016.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic so far I use this on my Sony A7 II. I only have one flash so far and if my tests all go well, I will be purchasing a couple more Nissin flashes. With just some preliminary test shots (mechanical tests mostly), on and off camera, they appear to work as advertised. Longevity, quality of lighting and durability at this point is unknown. For the price, the set is certainly worth the chance. I am unable to provide further review at this point. Star rating could increase with time. 4 stars means I'm very hopeful. Just happy to see that someone is providing needed Sony accessories that Sony is too busy to provide their customers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nissin Di 700 A1 air flash If you have to have TTL flash, it is OK, not as power as it advertized. Set up with channel and group are a little bit confused. I rather use manual flash because it is more b powerful and you can control how much light you need. You have to bump up the power from +1 or up to 1 +1/2 power to get the right amount of light. I would not recommend this system if you want a good and powerful flash system. I ended up using manual with this flash. Sorry Nissin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features, Works as Expected I bought this product to use with both a Sony A6000 and Sony A7M2, both having the multi interface hot shoe. Unlike a first reviewer, I've found this unit easy to use and not that badly constructed. Although it is made of plastic, it seems to be pretty rigid in construction to me. I've used it on both cameras numerous times with no problem in putting it on or off the hot shoe. I've also used the unit off camera, connecting the flash to its accompaning stand with no issues. I've tested the flash using it on camera in TTL mode and it works fine, zooming as I zoom my lens and firing each time a photo is taken. I've tested the unit off camera as well with the flash attached to its stand and all functions work as intended. Once binding the flash together with the included Air 1 Commander, its very easy to change modes from TTL to Manual by pushing the mode button on the commander unit. It's also very easy to increasse or decreasse, both EV or power whether in TTL or Manual modes, simply by rotating the select dial on the Air 1. If HSS is desired all thats required is to hold down the pilot button on the Air 1 for 3 seconds and it will start to blink.Any shutter speed can then be selected on the camera all the way to the maximum speed A6000 1/4000 or A7M2 1/8000. For camera set up in the menu select flash and set it to wireless for off camera use or auto flash for on camera use. I have found the unit to be an excellent buy for the money, especially when it comes with a fully functional Air 1 Commander with radio control. The only flaw I've found it that the pilot button is very small and a bit hard to push for the 3 second hold needed to put the unit into HSS mode.
