Matias Mini Tactile Pro Reviews
A dream to use.
Dump all your Apple keyboards!! This one is a dream to use. The key I hit is the letter that appears. No need for extensive edition, corrections, deleting and rewriting as is necessary with Apple keyboards. And B&H is a great company -- efficient, friendly, cooperative.
Great Keyboard for touch typists
I am a touch typist who makes much of my living writing. I have been using Apple's Magic Keyboard for the last four years. I thought I loved the keyboard, but recently I realized that I was making more mistakes than I should. Okay, yes, the "e" key was going out, but it alerted me to how many mistakes I was making otherwise that were being fixed with the spellchecker in ways of which I didn't approve. :) I thought I would give this mechanical keyboard a try. What a difference. I didn't realize how much I rely on feedback. I took a typing speed test with the new computer and I scored 76wpm (335cpm) with 100% accuracy. There is no way I would have had a 100% accuracy with the other keyboard, even if the "e" key was working. I like the layout of the keyboard and appreciate that there is no learning curve for using it on my Mac since it utilizes a similar layout but with more of the functions labeled. If you are not a touch typist, I don't think this board will make much of a difference. However, if you do touch type, this keyboard gives great feedback. It is noisy, but I chose this noisy version on purpose as the noise is part of the feedback for me. However, if you don't like a noisy keyboard or work in an environment with others nearby, you may want to go with the quiet version of this keyboard. I definitely am happy with my purchase.
This is my second time buying one of these.
I like this keyboard because you can feel the keys. They have a depression in the middle. Flat keyboards are hard to use. I will not try to clean this second one like I did the first as I ruined it.
At last! A keyboard that fits my fingers.
This keyboard is comfortable and provides all the features of the newer flat keyboards. My fingers settle right in. It also has the clacky sound that typewriters used to make, and I'm not sure that is a plus--thus the four stars instead of five. VERY nice touch. Fast.
Perfect Form-Factor & Feel, Weak Caps-Lock Indicator
I like this keyboard so much that it is the only keyboard I use on my Mac Pros now. My only complaint is the Caps Lock indicator is weak and you cant tell it is illuminated under most lighting conditions, so I end up disabling Caps Lock in my System Preferences. Once I adjusted to the placement of the Page Up and forward delete keys, I found this so much nicer than even the full-size Matias that I have put the larger keyboard back in the box and store it for another day.
Incredibly wonderful!
As an old newspaper veteran of typewriter city rooms I've been suffering for 40 odd years from low-profile computer keyboards. Now comes the Matias? No more mistakes. Good song, no more silence. Speed has tripled; now I'm back to my blazing performance on the the old Royal Standards. Congrats.
