The Mobius 2-Bay FireWire 800 eSATA USB 3.0 RAID Enclosure from Oyen Digital is a RAID storage management device with flexible connectivity and an easy HDD access. It offers many RAID storage management options including RAID 0 (Striping), RAID 1 (Mirroring), JBOD (independent disks), and Combine (Span). The LED indicators provide easy verification of operating status and drive health/activity.

The tray-less design provides a simple way of HDD removal and installation. Pull the handle to insert or withdraw the HDDs. The airflow is maximized due to the quiet fans that exhaust air away from the internal HDDs, enhancing internal airflow. The thermally-efficient aluminum also maintains optimal HDD operating temperature, prolonging the life of the HDDs. Using the Mobius is as easy as using a single bay external enclosure. Simply insert your HDDs, set the RAID mode via the mode switch, connect the cables, and turn on the power for massive storage capacity, redundancy or instant real-time backups.

Mobius 2-Bay FireWire 800 eSATA USB 3.0 RAID Enclosure is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I may buy this is in the near future. I have been using toshiba x300 hdd Mobius 2 bay enclosure using firewire and jbod mod for a week now, with the hd formatted and installed as a bootable copy of my computer internal drive. I have been running in external boot mode as a test of stability before adding the second drive of same size, which will also be formatted to boot mode and I will run the second one for a week. Then I will be reverting to the computer internal drive for normal operation and will treat the external drives as data duplicate drives, bootable if internal drive fails. So far the toshiba drive and the Mobius enclosure work fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Great value enclosure. Very hard to beat....so many options. Well made. Nothing to complain about. 5 stars and freight was also exceptional, just 4 days from USA to Australia. Thank you B&H

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How have I done without this all these years? This 2 bay enclosure is used to backup drives from a 4 bay MacPro. It is configured to JBOD using a Firewire 800 connection. It's simple to use and backs up my MacPro drives using CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) in a short time frame. Swapping out drives is a snap. Backups can be scheduled at night for a daily auto backup of my boot drive. This is a great product - especially if you already have the drives and only need the enclosure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It just works! I'm using this enclosure in JBOD configuration. I wanted 2 slots for hard drives that I could easily swap out between machines, and all of my 5.25 bays are already occupied by optical drives in my main desktop. I'm using this enclosure connected via USB 3.0, and no problems so far. Aesthetically speaking, the enclosure is nice. The build quality is sturdy and there are no problems inserting or removing drives. The fan isn't particularly quiet, but it's not overbearingly loud either. It's nice that the enclosure's power supply is built in, allowing it to use the same IEC C13/C14 power cord as computers and most monitors, without an external brick. Finally, the enclosure came with included eSata, firewire, AND USB 3.0 cables -- very convenient!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good enclosure at a good price Looking for more storage and data protection/reliability of a more advanced RAID and this enclosure fit the bill. With good drives at low prices, and the flexibility this enclosure allows (including easy swap of drives) this is now my main image drive (yes, with nightly backups and cloud storage, just in case) and I can use the swappable drive features to put projects - video in particular - on different drives as needed. Add in B&H free shipping (next day since I'm in Philly) and it's a great combination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for processing. Good company. Got a qualified tech on the phone quickly. Rep tols me this unit has a faster processor than the five bay. I bought both. In this unit I have two 3tb drives, raid 0 that I video edit with. The five bay mobius is my backup system with all 4tb drives. Very happy with my expanded system. Also, my 2008 mac pro got a great boost when I purchased the Sonnett PCIe card that holds two SSD drives as my new processing drive. It has two eSATA ports that I plug these units into.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from An effective one-computer solution; not suitable for sharing I use the product as centralized media storage - music, photos, PDF documents - connected to a Mac Mini via Firewire 800. Single user situations, almost no video playback. Very undemanding. The unit is very nice looking - sleek, professional, modern - much, much nicer than it seems from online photos. It is sturdy and not cheap-feeling. The Mobius shipped to my house in Canada incredibly quickly by B&H. It was well packed, and was easy to set up and load. The Mobius works well as a centralized media storage that is only accessed by a single computer through a direct connection. When accessed by a user that is using Mac Mini to which it is directly attached, read and write speeds in RAID 1 are fine. Almost no hiccups or wait times. That being said, one user streaming an MP3 or accessing the odd JPG or PDF or video is hardly putting it through its paces. The Mobius, however, has proven tough to use for accessing stored content wirelessly from other computers and devices. I've never seen more circling rainbow wait signals than I have using this device. It has trouble loading files and opening folders and searching files. At first it was a quirk, now it is annoying. I'm not doing photo or video editing. I want to be able to see the contents of a folder that contains 30-to-50 3-or-4 MB photos without waiting 30 seconds. I've also had trouble batch copying files to the device, resulting in ghost files. My first two attempts at loading my content onto the Mobius through large batch file transfers seemed successful until I looked at folders in detail, discovering that about maybe a sixth of my files actually have zero bytes and are inaccessible. I've never had this happen before, though I cannot directly confirm this is the fault of the Mobius. I have since re-copied smaller amounts of files, sometimes one-by-one, to ensure that they are copied properly and this has worked. Thankfully I have a second backup. I've had this setup - external DAS to Mac Mini, with content shared wirelessly through Home Sharing - for almost seven years now, and have never had problems like this with other external hard drives (newertech, iomega, WD) or a cheap RAID (Sans). My hardware is good enough to do this, and it's not my network - my wifi speeds are significant with a high-end router. I researched options extensively before landing on the Mobius. I want to give the unit four stars but can't.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I was looking for an enclosure that supported eSata and JBOD for connection to a Mac mini and this one came up. The reason I say so far so good is that another brand of unit kept on mysteriously dismounting and so far after a week of constant use this one has not done that. I'll update the review in a month or so to confirm. I also like the internal power supply as that keeps things neat.
