Sunwayfoto PCL-7DIIR overview

  • 1Description

CNC machined from solid aluminum, the PCL-7DIIR L Bracket from Sunwayfoto enables reliable camera support for both horizontal and vertical shooting atop a tripod or monopod. It is dedicated to the Canon 7D Mark II DSLR and is compatible with both Arca-type and Really Right Stuff lever clamps.

A convex edge design cradles the camera to prevent twisting or shifting during use and safety stop screws prevent accidental slipping during installation or removal. The left side of the bracket features a broad gap to allow unrestricted access to the camera's ports and the skeleton-style design helps to minimize the overall weight. With Arca-style dovetails incorporated on both sides of the bracket, as well as a durable aluminum alloy construction, this L bracket benefits a faster and more efficient tripod workflow.

Arca-style dovetails on both sides of the bracket are compatible with both Arca and Really Right Stuff style clamps and permit quick switching between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations.
A convex edge design prevents the camera from twisting or shifting when attached. Additionally, safety stop screws prevent accidental slipping when during installation and removal.
The left side of the bracket features a gap to permit full access to all of the camera's ports.
Skeleton-style design minimizes the overall weight while a CNC-machined aluminum alloy construction, with black anodized finish, benefits its durability.

    Sunwayfoto PCL-7DIIR reviews

PCL-7DIIR L Bracket for Canon 7D Mark II DSLR is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I have been a regular purchaser of RRS products. But I don't like the two-part design or price of RRS' L-bracket for the 7DII. This Sunway product is an excellent one-part design and it fits the 7DII perfectly. The attachment screw slides in a slot, allowing the bracket's distance from the electrical connections on the side to be adjusted. The black anodized surface is tough, scratch resistant, and seems identical to RRS' anodization. Plus Sunway includes safety screws on the longer base side of the bracket. I chose not to use these because it makes the camera and bracket unable to sit level, but I like having the option for the safety screws. I recommend this L-bracket highly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality craftsmanship The L-bracket fits my Canon 7d Mark II perfectly. In fact I like the way it fits better than the Really Right Stuff L-brackets that I have purchased for the 10D, 30D, and 50D as it leaves just a little more room for the camera strap. Also, the bracket can be moved further from the left side of the body if needed for complex cables. The machining appears to be of the highest quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality at a reasonable price This product worked superb on my Canon 7dii this weekend photographing waterfalls. I demand highest quality for photo accessories but there comes a point where the two name brands charge an unfair premium price for a piece of metal. The Sunwayfoto bracket offers totally perfect quality at a fair price. The only unknown for me would be the finish durability over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than Expected This is the first bracket that I've purchased from Sunwayfoto. Very pleased to see that it is up to par with several other L brackets that I own that were made by other name brand companies. The bracket fits, the spaces and opening are where they belong and finish seems durable enough...time will tell with that. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Disappointments Pleasantly surprised to have my L-Bracket delivered in a nice die-cut foam box with additional tools and accessories. Very presentable piece of equipment. This supplier went beyond expectations with keen detail to the presentation. Bracket mounted just as I expected. At half the cost of rival competitors, I'd highly recommend you get this bracket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fit and Finish This L bracket has very good fit on my 7D2. The finish on the bracket is excellent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap mounting screw I purchased this bracket about 18 months ago and was very happy with it . . . until now. The mounting screw that attaches the bracket to the camera includes a half round collar, so that it can be tightened by hand. Although I've only taken the bracket off the camera a handful of times, the collar pins that attach it to the screw sheared off the last time I attempted to tighten the screw. I was not over tightening. In fact, as I examined the pins on either side of the collar, it is evident that they are very thin and inadequate for their purpose. The bracket still can be attached, using a screw driver, but that is not nearly as convenient as using the collar. Perhaps the answer is to simply leave the bracket on the camera at all times. But this minor engineering shortcut somewhat mars an otherwise good product.
