Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Overview

This 100mm f/2.8 lens features a Sony E mount, and is compatible with full-frame sensors or APS-C sensors, where it will provide a 150mm equivalent focal length.
A bright f/2.8 maximum aperture is useful for working in a variety of lighting conditions and the minimum f/32 aperture helps to attain a long depth of field when working with close-up subjects.
One high refractive index element and one extra-low dispersion element help to control chromatic aberrations and minimize distortions throughout the focusing and aperture ranges.
An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased clarity, contrast, and color fidelity.
Featuring a macro design, this lens affords a 1:1 maximum magnification ratio along with a minimum focusing distance of 1'.
Benefitting working with especially close subjects, this manual focus lens features an internal focus design to maintain the overall lens length during use. Additionally, the front filter mount does not rotate when focusing to better enable the use of polarizers, graduated ND, and other filter types that require precise positioning.
A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques.

Rokinon 100mm f/2.8 Macro Reviews

What No One Mentions . . .

I’m not a macro photographer, but I was hoping to have the ability to take macro shots without having to pay for an expensive lens. This all-manual lens from Rokinon fit the bill. While I cannot claim to have done extensive pixel peeping, it seems sharp. The focusing wheel is nicely damped, so it is relatively easy to focus sharply. What no one seems to be mentioning is that the all-manual nature of this lens and its physical makeup allows it to work with Sony’s teleconverters. Third-party lenses using Sony’s E-mount that rely on the the camera to move the focusing gears cannot do this, but this lens is without any electronic contacts or reliance upon the camera body, so teleconverters work very nicely to increase the magnification.

Awesome Macro!

Purchased this lens looking for a more affordable option to do macro photography. It takes amazing photos. It is a little dense, but it is a rather decently sized lens. My biggest issue with it though is the lack of AF compatibility, but that does come at the cost of affordability. Learning how to manually adjust such a minute focus is quite a lot to handle while managing framing as well as keeping steady. Definitely recommend a tripod if you have certain shots in mind. Though it is f2.8, it is more than enough for how fine of detail and close you can get with this lens. Definitely an awesome lens for my kit!

Asked by: Carlos
Yes, you could use this lens for video as well. However you may want to consider the Rokinon 100mm T3.1 Macro Cine DS Lens for Sony E-Mount, B&H # RO10031SE, instead. It has gears built in for use with follow focus systems and a click-less aperture. It is geared more towards Cinematography and Video. https://bhpho.to/2C7NoOo

This is a manual focus lens, however it will be fully compatible with the XT-1. You may calculate your actual shipping options/order totals by adding the items you want to a shopping cart. It will then list the shipping options, descriptions, ETA's and fees to your location.
