Interfit F5 Overview

The F5 Two-Head Fluorescent Lighting Kit from Interfit is a versatile photo or video lighting solution for portraits, products, or e-commerce in the studio or on the road. The kit includes two F5 five-lamp fixtures, each with a 19.7 x 27.5" softbox, 7.5' light stand, and five daylight-balanced compact fluorescent lamps.

The F5 head has a sturdy but lightweight polycarbonate construction with five Edison base sockets. Power can be regulated via three toggles on the unit's back panel that power on/off two lamps per switch and produce the tungsten equivalent of up to 800W. The lamp head has a tilting adapter with an industry-standard receiver for mounting on stands with a 5/8" top stud. It's also conveniently designed to mount directly to the included 19.7 x 27.5" softboxes without using a speed ring. The kit is rounded out by two four-section 7.5' air-cushioned light stands that support up to 8 lb each and fold down to 27" for storage and transport.

Interfit F5 Reviews

Functional price point

Bought these for a music video project. Need to do some tight studio cut ins to go with full band long shots. As most have noted, don't expect to take these apart and put back together repeatedly. I'll just leave them assembled and hang them in my garage until I need them. Bright enough for my DSLR and stock zoom. Have to try them with my 50mm next. Expect they will be fine. Inexpensive and functional. Just what I needed.

I recommend it

I purchased these soft box lights for my home studio as an upgrade from my shoot through umbrellas and I am very happy with them. The quality of light is very even with three levels of power. Being an amateur photographer, I don't have the budget for high-end studio equipment, so these fit my needs.

They work well for photographing artwork

Bought these lights because we had a set in the art department that i had been using so I got the same thing Assembly was fine--getting the last rod in was a little challenge but all fit together and works fine. Shipping was fast. I don't need to disassemble so that would not be a problem. If I were moving them to another location I would just take the head off the stand--not very compact but would fit better in a vehicle. I liked getting these partially because of the multiple lights instead of only one means if one burns out, you can still work

Instant Improvement

A great, cost effective way to instantly improve your photography or video quality. I had these out of the box, assembled and taking test shots in under thirty minutes. I noticed an improvement in my images immediately. I understand that these are considered entry level lights but I'm impressed with the quality nonetheless. The stands are the only part of the product that I was not completely confident about, but I attached ankle weights around the bases and I was able to fully extend them with total stability. I expect I'll get a lot of use out of these for years to come. I highly recommend them.

It does the job and works well. Can easily swap tungsten bulbs in for the fluorescents or use the light stands with other lights too, which is nice.

I wanted a cheap set of lights for use in a home studio without breaking the budget. These perfect for what I need them for. Didn't expect much, but these are plenty bright with 5 bulbs and you have 4 brightness settings -- one bulb, two, three or all five. I have one set vertically and one set horizontally to mix it up. Seems solid, no complaints, no regrets. Would purchase again.

Can I use dimmable led bulbs instead and plug a dimmer at the end and thus make the fixture dimmable? Does the light fixture support it?
Asked by: Jack
Using LED lamps is possible. As for the in-line dimmer switch, we have not tested this and cannot confirm whether it will work or not.

Hi, I’m new in this and also i’m in a budget so your opinion will be valuable for me. I will use this for video only. Cai i change light bulbs to cfl 85watts...? it seems to me the 32wtts won’t make it. Thanks.
Asked by: Byron
you are limited to the wattage you can use in these, but i can tell you that if you use both of them you will have more than enough light.

How evenly is the light spread? I'm an artist who needs to photograph my drawings on paper, some as large as 36x48 inches. I dearly need a light source that is dispersed as evenly across the surface of the artwork as possible. Will this lighting kit do the trick?
Asked by: John
I have used mine for items as big as you describe and they were fine. However, I have replaced the very fragile fluorescent lights with GE BrightStiks. Get the GE BrightStiks that are close to 5000 kelvin or so. I used the fluorescent blubs for artwork reproduction and even though I set the white balance to daylight since the fluorescents claim to by daylight balanced the photos came out green. Fortunately I started with a 'grey card' and was able to balance the color in Lightroom. Always use a grey card when reproducing artwork!
