Three Varidrives with black metal chains are provided to raise and lower the backgrounds.

How do I keep it from unwinding? I thought the little weight was suppose to do stop it, but it starts to unwind at a certain len
If you have a particularly heavy background and/or you are unwinding a background not quite to the floor you can use a hook or nail if there is a suitable wall nearby to secure the chain to to keep it from unraveling or you can also put more weight on the chain to counterweight it further or temporarily secure the chain to the auto pole.

Hello, Is this easy enough to take up and down and put in different places? My studio has a finished ceiling, would this system make marks in the ceiling? Thanks for answering!
In addition to what Manzell said. There are also rubber covers you can buy to add to the system so there are no marks made at all.

What is the difference between this system and the Manfrotto system?
The differences between this background support and the Manfrotto 2961D has to do with the locking mechanism on each pole. The Manfrotto Deluxe Autopole would unlock by pulling the handle downward then pulling it towards you. With the Impact Varipole, you have the same control but with an added lock around the handle for extra security. Otherwise they offer similar height and weight, with the Impact Varipole being more budget friendly.
