Get GPS-guided navigation and advanced cycling training capabilities with the Edge 1000 Cycling Computer and GPS Navigator from Garmin. The Edge 1000 features a 3" color touchscreen display with dual orientation. It comes bundled with a heart rate monitor, speed senor, and cadence sensor, and is designed for cyclists who don't want to choose between using a navigator or a comprehensive training device—because it's both. The 1000 comes preloaded with Garmin Cycle Map, which includes OpenStreetMap (OSM), so it can guide you during touring, commuting, or other activities requiring onboard navigation. Because your mapping data is stored on your Edge device, access to navigation and performance capabilities isn't dependent on cell coverage.
In addition to its mapping and navigation capabilities, the 1000 also tracks and records more than 70 points of cycling data, such as distance, ascent/descent, grade, and more. You can use the Edge 1000 with the optional ANT+ power meters, such as the Garmin Vector, to track advanced power metrics, such as your functional threshold power (FTP). Create a personalized activity profile by customizing the data fields based on your cycling activity, such as road, mountain, or touring. You can switch activity profiles with a swipe of the touchscreen. The Edge 1000 also offers a training calendar, which you can plan, schedule, and upload from Garmin Connect.
The Edge 1000 enables you to record your ride data and wirelessly share it in real time through your smartphone and the Garmin Connect Mobile app. Garmin Connect is a free online community that lets you store and analyze your riding data and interact with other Garmin product users. To upload and share your riding information, install the Garmin Connect Mobile app to your compatible smartphone. Once the app is installed, the Edge 1000 can wirelessly send data to your smartphone using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. To upload your riding information to Garmin Connect manually, plug the included USB cable into your Edge's micro-USB port and connect it to a compatible computer. In addition to storing and sharing your data, Garmin Connect Mobile can also be used to send real-time weather reports and incoming call/text alerts to your Edge.
The Edge 1000 is designed to mount to your bike's handlebars or stem for easy visibility and access. Attach the included standard or out-front mount to the desired location on your bike and then snap the Edge 1000 into the mount to secure it. The Edge's rechargeable battery lasts up to 15 hours on a full charge, so you can ride longer without having to recharge the device. Additionally, it's designed to be waterproof and can withstand incidental exposure to water of up to 3.3' for up to 30 minutes.
