The Holy Stain Multi-Effect Pedal from Electro-Harmonics is a multi-effect pedal comprised of two stages: DSP and analog distortion. The player can combine reverb, pitch shifting, or tremolo effects with analog fuzz or overdrive. One distortion mode and one DSP mode can be active at a time, but you can also choose to bypass either stage. The unit is housed in a tough and compact die-cast chassis and comes with a 9.6 VDC-200BI power supply.
The Distortion section of the Holy Stain is made up of four controls: Dirt, Color, Tone, and Volume. The Amount knob controls the four DSP parameters, which are Room Reverb, Hall Reverb, Pitch Shift, and Tremolo, and the Mode footswitch cycles through them. The Mix knob sets the balance between the output of the distortion circuit and the output of the DSP, changes the volume of your original note versus that of the pitch-shifted note, and controls the depth of the Tremolo effect.
The Holy Stain has a very high maximum gain. This requires that both the pickups and cables be well shielded and properly grounded to avoid excessive hum and stray oscillations when the Fuzz and Drive settings are used.
