Cullmann CU78 reviews

CU78 Flash Hot Shoe Spirit Level is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Choice Cullmann is ahead of the competition with thier design. The rounded edges of the level is much better than the square sharp design! Plus mine has not faded as some of the other brands I've tried...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perhaps the nicest item of its kind There are a great many such levels on the market, most of them less expensive, but generally the quality is poor. This one is nicely made, and may be unique in that it has rounded corners that won't poke you or snag. It is smaller than it seems in the photos, and so the leveling function is not as precise as it is in (say) a carpenter's level. The one thing missing is that there is no easy way to store it -- some sort of small pouch, perhaps designed to clip to a neck strap, is needed. It would be very easy to lose this little gem if it is allowed to rattle around in the camera bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good Use this to help balance my camera for real estate shots. It is small and fits nicely on the hot shoe. As has been pointed out the rounded edges are easy on the hands. An added bonus for shooting panoramas is I can lay it on its side on the plate that the tripod legs attach to and get that perfectly even first. Then put it on the camera and even the camera out. Just evening out the camera doesn't guarantee that it will stay even when swinging through the series of shots. I guess a three way version would be easier to use when the camera is being used vertically. I'll have to see if I can rig up a string so I don't have to put it in my pocket when using the SU-800.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Serious Timesaver! After reading a sufficient number of reviews and working alongside an established architectural photographer who swears by these miraculous little items, I decided to use this spirit level over the other offerings on the market. The softened edges of this level make it easy to read from many angles, which turned out to be exceptionally helpful in situations where the capture of an interior or building forces you to position your camera (and yourself) in odd ways. After having done a number of shoots with and without a spirit level, I will never go without again. This little beauty will pay for itself after one job, in the time that it saves you from correcting even slight keystoning in post (a near-inevitability when you are composing on a tiny DSLR viewfinder/screen). Fit was flawless with Canon 1dX, 6D, and 5D II. If it is ever lost, I will definitely purchase one again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again. I have been a professional photographer for over 25 yrs, photographing people in one capacity or another professionally. Personally I am ready to try night shots. This level has been fantastic in keeping my horizons straight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Tool I use this for landscape photos, including panoramas, which don't require flash, so no conflict. It is a little loose in my Canon 5D Mark II hot shoe, but a piece of 3x5 card keeps it in place. I have a small (1X 2 approx.) zip/snap fabric ring case that I keep it in so that I won't lose it. I am considering using velcro to attach it to my camera so that I can use it in the rare instances that I might want a flash in addition to the level, but haven't worked out the details. The rounded sides are nice- a pleasure to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tiny Bubbles An essential piece of gear for slider work, particularly when positioning the slider at an angle. Use caution, however, the fit into the hot shoe is fairly loose, so I affix a small piece of gaffer's tape to the spirit level's bottom to make a tighter fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits My Canon A rather simple but effective way of straigthening my pictures before they make it to my editing software. Some have complained that this one didn't fit snugly but works just fine with my Canon hotshoe.
