Pentax K-3 II DSLR Camera (Body Only)
Key Features
  • 24.35 MP APS-C CMOS Sensor
  • PRIME III Image Processor
  • Anti-Aliasing Filter Simulator
  • 3.2" 1.03m-Dot LCD Monitor
Utilizing enhanced image processing and sensor-shift Shake Reduction technologies to their fullest potential, the K-3 II from Pentax is an advanced DSLR optimized for both high-speed and high-resolution shooting. Featuring a 24.35 MP APS CMOS sensor and a PRIME III image processor, this camera is capable of shooting up to 8.3 fps, full HD video recording, and has a sensitivity range from ISO 100-51200. Benefitting the image quality is a selectable anti-aliasing filter, which can be turned on or off to either garner the highest resolution and sharpness possible or provide enhanced protection against moiré, and the in-camera image stabilization compensates for up to 4.5 stops of camera shake for sharper imagery. This sensor-shift design further lends itself to the Pixel Shift Resolution function, which composites four separate exposures into a single frame while moving the sensor in one pixel increments between each shot in order to gain truer colors, greater resolving power, and reduced noise. Also making use of the sensor-shift mechanism, an AstroTracer function utilizes the in-camera GPS module along with the shifting sensor to compensate for the Earth's rotation and minimize the appearance of star trails when photographing the nighttime sky.

question

will older lens from a Pentax with K mount work on this camera ?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. I have a Takumar 135mm that's at least 20 years old and still the sharpest lens in my bag. Totally manual -- no auto focus, etc. -- but if my settings are correct and I focus (with my glasses on!) results are usually very pleasing.

HSS is supported with the proper external Flash unit in Tv, TAv, and M exposure modes. I have a AF540FGZ II flash but have not yet used HSS.

question

What is the difference between this camera and the K-3 besides the on board flash unit on the K-3, and the GPS thing on the K-3 II?
Asked by: Anonymous
If you do an online search, there are a number of weblinks to some comparisons, but primarily there are faster shooting, longer battery life, Pixel-Shift, and a few other things that stand out. I actuall DO use Pixel-Shift, and while the basic images are phenomenal with the camera, Pixel-Shift (on Still Objects) images really are extraordinary. I consistently have received comments where people think that I am using a Full-Frame camera rather than APS-C. I have shot over 4K images with this camera now, and am VERY pleased with the image quality.

question

Hi there,I am looking for some advice from PentaxK3ii owners... I have the K5iiS which I love, coupled with my DA* 300 for wildlife shots. However, I am constantly missing the shots, and I think it is due to autofocus issues...... can any K3ii owners tell me whether moving to this model will make the difference I am hoping it will?
Asked by: Brendon V.
Not too much. I do not feel significant difference if speed of focus capture between K5 and K3ii unfortunately.
