The DJI Phantom 2 Bundle with H4-3D, FPV Monitor, iOSD, and Backpack is put together by B&H to provide the essentials for recording aerial video with the ability to monitor a live image, and is compatible with the GoPro HERO3, HERO3+, and HERO4 cameras (available separately). This bundle comes ready-to-fly, meaning the gimbal, video transmitter, and iOSD module are installed and tested by B&H technicians, and that no major assembly is required. It is still important, however, to calibrate the GPS and flight control system before each flight to ensure proper flying.
At the center of the bundle is the Phantom 2 Quadcopter, a four-rotor remote control helicopter designed to act as an aerial platform for a GoPro HERO action camera. It features self-tightening propellers, a slot-in battery with LED indicators visible during flight, and includes a 2.4 GHz hand-held radio controller (transmitter) that is pre-bound to the aircraft and has a range of up to 3,280' line-of-sight, depending on conditions. In addition to a total of two flight batteries, a set of rechargeable AA batteries and a charger are included to power the radio controller.
To mount a GoPro HERO4 camera, the Zenmuse H4-3D gimbal is included. It features a 3-axis brushless design that not only supports tilting and canting, but panning as well. The motors act to keep the camera's horizon level even as the quadcopter banks, and help isolate footage from vibration. The gimbal can also be used to remotely operate the camera, allowing you to adjust the camera angle in-flight. The gimbal is balanced exclusively for the GoPro HERO4 Black and Silver models.
To provide the first-person view (FPV) experience or for in-flight monitoring, the AVL58 5.8 GHz Video Link Kit and a 7" LCD field monitor with built-in 5.8 GHz receiver are included. The monitor can receive signals at distances up to 1.2 miles line-of-sight – depending on conditions. Unlike other monitors which use digital processing, the screen on this monitor won't go blue or black when the signal gets weak. Instead you will see "snow" (static) rather than a complete loss, which might require several seconds or more to re-sync once the signal returns. A battery and compact wall charger are included to power the monitor.
The iOSD module takes heading, altitude, GPS coordinate, horizontal and vertical speed, and other data from the Phantom 2's flight computer and superimposes it over the image sent back to the video receiver at the ground end. Not only will be you be able to see what your GoPro sees, but also know exactly how the Phantom 2 is flying.
Finally, a backpack in black is included to safely store and transport your Phantom 2 and accessories in.
Warning: Never use the DJI Phantom 2 Quadcopter with your GoPro camera when both devices have their Wi-Fi systems turned on. The DJI Phantom 2's radio controller and the GoPro HERO4's Wi-Fi run on the same frequency, so if you use them together when both Wi-Fi systems are engaged, the DJI Phantom's transmitter will lose the ability to communicate with the DJI Phantom Quadcopter. Whenever this happens, you will not be able to tell the Phantom where to fly. This may result in loss of property or damage to your equipment.
