Solid and Simple

This remote trigger system works perfectly with my Canon Mark IV and Mark II - it's easy to use, has great range and works really well regardless of walls and other structures in between you and the camera.

So great!

This remote it is my second from Hahnel and I absolutely love it. I use it when photographing large spaces and the range is fantastic! I highly recommend it if you're looking for a remote for your Nikon!

Works great, but the shoes cannot be easily removed.

Functionality, these seem very well made, although a bit large. However, unless you really need all the hotshoe attachments, this design will make you crazy. I can understand why the exist on the receiver, but on the transmitter? OK, the transmitter sho can be easily removed with a very good Japanese screwdriver. However, the receiver is much narder (near impossible) to do this with. I prefer to have the receiver attached somewhere by velcro, keeping my hot sho flash transmitter lower, and allowing me to quickly detach the Hahnel receiver for use as a tethered shutter. Long story short: I'm extremely mechanically adept, but I ruined my receiver, after cutting away its hot shoe parts with an oscillating tool. I suspect the heat ruined some internal component. So, Either live with those uncomfortable dinguses always digging into your hand, or buy something else.

I had to order second set of remotes because receiver plug failed. I reordered because I was happy with performance and decided to give hahnel another chance because they are a great product for the price. If you have a set of these, just leave the cable plugged in...or be careful when plugging and unplugging...

Does not include wiring for XT-2 or XT-3

Works very well, but does not include wiring to make it work with my cameras. Fortunately, I found some wiring from my other remote flash gear that did work. B&H listed that it would work with my cameras. It ultimately does, but I needed to scrounge some different wiring.

Thinking since the receiver had a hot shoe I could attach my flash on the receiver and attach the receiver to the camera’s hot shoe. Boy was I wrong! It does not work that way. I contacted the manufacturer. I been told by the manufacturer the flash must be attached to the camera’s hot shoe and the receiver must be attached to the camera for the flash to work . Not what I wanted. Wasted money.

question

Can the Nikon 810 built-in flash be used to trigger remote Nikon flash units when the Captur is being used on the camera to trigger the camera?
Asked by: Ted H.
The hahnel remote does not need to be on the D810s hot shoe in order to trigger the camera: it simply needs to be plugged into the 10-pin accessory port. So, you could use the pop-up flash to trigger a compatible wireless flash while the camera is being triggered by the hahnel remote.

question

will it wake up a remote SB-800?
Asked by: Bob S.
While this product will not wake up a remote SB-800 with the receiver attached, you can set the SB-800 to stay awake all of the time (which will shorten battery life). You can also set the flash to enter standby mode from 40, 80, 160, and 300 seconds. This is done through the custom functions of the flash.
