Improve your golf swing and get comprehensive yardage and hole information on up to 40,000 golf courses with the white and black Approach S6 from Garmin. This GPS-supported golf watch with 1" color touchscreen display features Garmin's proprietary swing metrics: SwingTempo and TempoTraining. Both of these metrics are intended to help you achieve the ideal golf swing, which is commonly held to be a 3-to-1 upswing-to-downswing ratio. SwingTempo measures what the current relationship between your upswing and downswing is, so you can fine-tune it as needed. TempoTraining uses a series of audible tones to help you synchronize your swing with the correct ratio, effectively training you to develop an ideal golf swing.
Included in the Approach S6's swing metrics is SwingStrength, a feature that estimates how hard you swing a club by measuring the acceleration and angular rate of your swing and comparing it to a normal swing. The SwingStrength value is expressed as a percentage of your normal swing power—a measurement that is established during the calibration process. The SwingStrength measurement and power calibration are available for three club groups: woods, long irons, and short irons.
PinPointer is a blind shot assistant that works as a compass to show you the direction of the green, whether you can see it or not. This will help you line up your shot, no matter if you're in the woods or a deep sand trap.
The Approach S6 also provides comprehensive yardage and hole information on up to 40,000 golf courses. This data includes hole number, par, precise yardage distance to the front, back, and middle of greens, and any dogleg or layup distances. Using the S6's CourseView feature, you can get all these course details before you play a single hole, which means you can preview hazards, traps, pin positioning, and more from wherever you are, whether it's on the tee or in the clubhouse. With the Green View feature, you can take a closer look at the green and, if necessary, move the pin location for more accurate yardage information.
All yardage and course data comes preloaded on the Approach S6. To ensure your information is up to date and current, every Approach includes free lifetime course updates through Garmin Express—Garmin's free device-management software. Course updates are added up to 4 times a year.
Use the Approach S6's digital scorecard and stat-tracking capabilities to track your performance as you play. The S6 can be set to use either the stroke play (medal play) or Stableford scoring system. It features handicap scoring options, which enable you to either enter a player's local handicap or determine the handicap using the index/slope method. When you've finished golfing, you can use the included USB cradle to connect the Approach S6 to your computer and view all your saved scorecards on Garmin Connect. Garmin Connect is Garmin's free community site where you can track, review, analyze, and share all your golfing data.
Engineered with golfers in mind, the Approach S6's touchscreen is glove-friendly, so you can access all the data you need without removing your glove. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery lasts up to 10 hours in GPS mode, enough for a full day of golf. In case you are on the course all day, the Approach S6 is Bluetooth-enabled, so it can receive call, text, and email alerts from compatible smartphones.
