Panasonic AG-DVX200 Overview

The Panasonic AG-DVX200 4K Camcorder with Four-Thirds Sensor and Integrated Zoom Lens brings professional features and familiar camcorder ergonomics to the Micro Four Thirds sensor format. It features a single MOS sensor with 4K resolution that captures up to 12 stops of dynamic range with Panasonic's V-Log L gamma curve. The camcorder supports UHD 4K recording at up to 60 fps and HD at up to 120 fps, providing you with a camcorder that is at home in a variety of production environments.

Recording 4K to MP4 or MOV and offering AVCHD recording of 1920 x 1080 HD video, your footage can be easily integrated into most modern post-production workflows. The integrated 13x Leica zoom lens features three lens rings that give you manual control over focus, zoom, and iris. The camera records to SD cards and requires U3 speed class cards to record 4K video. The camcorder features timecode in/out, a 3G-SDI output for HD video, and an HDMI connector that provides DCI 4K resolution output.

The integrated LEICA DICOMAR lens features a 13x zoom range, which when shooting UHD 4K is equivalent to a 29.5 to 384.9mm lens on a 35mm camera. The lens has individual lens control rings built into the lens for focus, zoom, and iris, as well as a power zoom rocker.
Includes a five-axis Hybrid Image Stabilizer and 4x correction-area Image Stabilizer that produces clear images without blurring, and a micro-drive focus unit that improves focus speed, tracking, and capture performance, facilitating 4K focusing and shallow focus shooting.
The V-Log L gamma curve allows you to capture 12 stops of dynamic range. Capturing in V-Log L will produce a flatter looking image that provides more latitude for post color correction. The V-Log assist function allows you to adjust the look of your video on the output to a more normal-looking image without affecting the recorded footage.
The dual SD card slots allow you to record in relay, backup, and simultaneous modes. Relay allows you to swap a full card out for an empty card so you can record virtually endlessly. The backup mode allows you to record continuously on one card, while you start and stop recording on the other card. Simultaneous record duplicates your recording on both cards, and dual codec recording allows you to record using a different codec to each card, so you can record 4K on one card and HD on the other. Please note that dual codec recording is not available when recording UHD 59.94p.

Note: Recording 4K video requires a U3 class card.

Panasonic AG-DVX200 Reviews

A all around Video/Cinema Workhorse

I have shot from a DVX100a to Canon 5DM2, RedOne Mx to Sony A7s and A7s3, now back to Panasonic DVX200 with fixed Zoom. Im a run and gun Promo/Documentary shooter. No set time and it covers what i need in a 4k cam. I sold my A7s3 because I felt I didn't need it with still having my A7s1. I am very happy with cam. very solid build and performance.

LOTS and LOTS of research on this

After months of watching youtube.com videos and research I got this. Love the quality and controls, need to get out in the field and shoot some footage, but looking forward to putting this to the test.

This is a great camera for documentary filmmaking; focus assist is excellent, image quality is superb, and the ability to set up the user setting to switch between the LCD or EVF adds efficiency and speed.

No 60p 10bit UHD output!!!!!!!

I was let to believe and strait up told by several people (staff included) that this camera could output 10bit 60p UHD. It DOES NOT. :( now I own it and can’t shoot professional quality 60p even with an external recorder. bummed. It caps out at 29.97p UHD 10bit. Log or no log makes no diff. Darn! Otherwise it’s pretty darn good! Kinda poor lowlight (need neat video for NR) parfocal doesn’t work right. Focus transition is great! Sharp video if you can get it all in focus :) shallow depth of fiels is still kinda weak. Overall good. But sad.

Just perfect. I've been shooting professionally for non-fiction TV since 2005. This workhorse does it all. It's hardy enough for run and gun with real XLR mic inputs, and gives you gorgeous shallow depth of field with the big sensor and nice fixed lens. You can go from run and gun doc style/reality to capturing cinematic, shallow depth of field beauty shots in seconds. Can't imagine a better camera for what I do.

Amazing Camera

This camera has a fantastic image, with the ability to get pretty descent Shallow DOF. With ND filters, XLR, image stabilization, and 4K imagery, one can use this camera to quickly capture uncontrolled action compared with a DSLR. I give this camera 5 stars!!

Still great in 2021

If you want a fixed-lens camcorder in a pro form-factor with a large (relatively speaking) sensor, this is your only option. Even though it's going on 7 years old now, it is still an absolute workhorse as long as you can put up with a few quirks. What I love: -This camera compliments my GH5 cameras very well. -Great for live events (as long as you account for Panasonic's famous HDMI latency). -SDI out. -Leica lens is gorgeous. -Surprisingly good low-light performance with plenty of tweakable settings (I expected more noise at high gain) -Pro form-factor with built-in ND, smartly-placed XLR ports, lots of programmable buttons and controls. Feels great in-hand. My main gripes: -I wish the lens was a touch faster, and a constant aperture. -No 10-bit internal recording. -Weird viewfinder/touchscreen limitations (can't be on simultaneously; waveform not available in the viewfinder; other minor weird things) -First-party batteries are EXPENSIVE. -You'll probably want a shoulder attachment for long hand-held sessions.

A Dependable Workhorse Camera with Excellent Image Quality

I've been shooting with this camera since early 2016 and find it as useful today as I did when first purchased; that's saying something for any piece of technology! I primarily produce promotional videos for business/corporate clients with the occasional broadcast job thrown in. This camera has proven very dependable and rugged, while giving me the quality and feature set my clients require. Highly recommended.
