The Light Blaster Universal Studio Adapter from Spiffy Gear allows you to project bigger and brighter images by using a studio strobe as your light source instead of an on-camera flash. The adapter has 3 tabs and knurled tightening knobs that slide in channels in its frame to accommodate strobe umbrella reflectors up to 8" in diameter. The adapter is for use with strobe only. The modeling light should be off during use.

Has anyone tried using this with a continuous LED ...
Has anyone tried using this with a continuous LED light source? Spiffy Gear says this product is not meant to be used with continuous light sources, and I'm confused why that might be. I assume it has to do with the device being plastic and not being able to withstand heat, but LED technology has gotten much less hot since this was released..
This is mean to to focus the light. Due to the size of the source of light. LED vs the very small flash tubes, it will not work.

What power strobe does anyone recommend? Any particular models? Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately, I just received my adapter with very high hopes. I used a Profoto 2400ws pack (Very Powerful) and at full power. I didn't get near the results that you get from a cheap speedlight. The speedlight is able to get right up against the slide. The adapter leaves the too much space from the strobe head and the output is extremely diminished. I recommend to skip the adaptor and just stick with the basic flash.
