Glockenspiel from Vienna Symphonic Library is a sample-based virtual instrument featuring a chromatic percussion instrument that initially use small bells that were struck with mallets to trigger sounds. At the end of the 17th century, the bells were replaced by steel bars with a key range of about three octaves. The sound of the glockenspiel is very high and piercing and can be heard even through a full orchestra playing in "tutti." The instrument is frequently used in majestic brass fanfares with the sound varied by the use of different mallets. Here two different instruments were recorded, played with small and big metal mallets, as well as wood and plastic mallets.
