Angler Beauty Reflector Overview

The 20" Beauty Reflector from Angler gets its name from the popularity of this light shaper with fashion and portrait photographers.

Recommended for strobes, the light source is bounced off of a centrally positioned deflector and directed to fill the neutral white reflector interior. The result is a signature soft dispersed look, but with crispness, ideal for hair and makeup, that you can't get from umbrellas and softboxes. An added feature is the natural-looking catchlights that appear in the subject's eyes. Optional accessories include a honeycomb grid to tunnel and direct the light output and a diffusion sock to soften it.

Adapters are available for the following studio flash units: Paul C. Buff Alien Bee, Einstein, White Lightning, and Zeus; Balcar; Flashpoint, Elinchrom, Impact EX, Calumet Genesis, Interfit EX and Stellar, Bowens; Calumet Travelite, Cowboy, JTL, Photoflex; Rime Lite, Impact monolights, Westcott and Profoto.

    I really love shooting with a beauty dish and for many years I've been using a variety of 22" dishes. Love them all. Each has its own character. The look from a gridded beauty dish is fantastic for so much of what I shoot. I've wanted a 27" dish for a while and I finally got to shoot with the Angler 27" beauty dish with the honeycomb grid. Same quality of light as with the 22" dish, but greater coverage. Just gorgeous. You can work at a slightly greater distance and still get those killer sculpted cheekbones, or you can work really close and get insanely rapid falloff from a large, soft light source. Super flexible modifier. Great for beauty shots, glamour and fashion. A great complement to the 22" dish, but I have to admit, this has now become my favorite.

    Hi! Can I use it with my Canon Speed light? Also, is the diffuser sock included, or how to add it (it says optional)?

    NO. This is a beauty dish that attaches to a standalone monolight which is entirely different than Canon Speedlight. If you wanted to attach a Speedlight, which is a small handheld portable flash that can be mounted on a camera or a special hotshoe you would need an adapter that accommodates your speeligt and has a special ring onto which the beauty dish will mount. What is and not included should be on the listing.
