CD-R/RW Recording

The CD-RW890mkII is capable of recording to CD-R/RW media from both analog and digital audio sources (SCMS digital copy control may prevent digital dubbing).

Auto Track

Auto track is a feature that detects silent intervals when dubbing records or cassettes to CD-R/RW, automatically incrementing track numbers. This reduces the time associated with manually assigning individual track numbers while listening to each track.

Synchro Recording

This feature begins recording automatically on receiving an audio signal (analog or digital) from a device like a CD or MD player, then halts recording when the signal stops.

Additional Features

  • Center-mounted drive mechanism for minimal vibration and reduced jitter distortion
  • FL display with level meter for recording level adjustments
  • Auto sampling rate converter compatible with a wide range of digital audio sources
  • Program playback function (32 tracks)
  • Repeat playback function (single, all, A-B)
  • Shuffle playback function
  • Supports an optional rackmount kit

The unit will not play a disc with mp3 music files. But if a disc was recorded from an mp3 file onto a CD-R on a PC using, e.g., Windows Media Player, which should convert the mp3 to the CD-DA/CDA format prior to burning, then this unit WILL play that CD, correct? With no glitches, dropouts, etc? Some players seem to have problems under such conditions.
Asked by: Nicholas
As long as it's the regular CD format, not MP3, and you are using "Digital Audio or Music CDs" (CD-DA). it should play fine with no glitches.

question

Does this unit use blank computer cd's or do you have to use blank music cd's?
Asked by: Anonymous
I am quite surprised that I CAN record on plain CD-R discs ( computer CD Blank ) when recording from an analog source. For me this is a real bonus.

question

Can I do a live recording of a choir and immediately play it back for their review?
Asked by: David M.
I see no reason why not. But for simplicity, ease of use, and rapid playback I would thing the Marantz Professional PMD-300CP Dual Cassette Deck with USB capability would be the better choice. There is a reason the cassette tape and players never really went away; High Fidelity and simplicity.

question

Can I fade out with this unit?
Asked by: Anonymous
It doesn't have a fader feature but a trick you can use that I tried is to decreased the record level during the recording process and spread it evenly over several seconds just like how recorded songs are fading at the end. This I've tried and it worked. Another thing you can do is, if you have an audio mixer to connect to the CD recorder, it has a volume slider switch that you can use to smoothly fade out the volume being recorded before stopping the recording. Hope this helps.
