    Sirui SUHC110 reviews

HC-110 Electronic Humidity Control Cabinet is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holds a lot of gear First one arrived damaged, B&H took care of it and I received a replacement in perfect condition. This cabinet holds a lot of gear. I have a gripped D750 and gripped D7200, 12 primes (including a nikkor 300mm f/4 and a 500mm reflex, several zooms, one flash and a complete nikon 1 system inside with room to spare. Seems to keep humidity at close to settings. Shelves are easily adjusted and access is very good. While not as sexy as a new lens or body, this is an essential accessory for storage if you live in a humid environment. The lock is a nice adition to keep younger hands off the gear inside. very solid construction and having a USA warranty is an added bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B&H I recently purchased this unit from B&H after having some older 35 mm equipment damaged by mold / fungus on the glass lens elements. The Sirui unit is pretty well-made. Caveat: I did have the first unit arrive with serious damage as a result of poor manufacturer packaging, but B&H handled the replacement within 24 hours. Several people have asked about how the water drains from the unit. Well, it is not like an air conditioner or de-humidifier; the unit is only removing a fraction of an ounce of water from the air volume inside the humidity control cabinet to control the RH. It only has to perform this action once after you open and close the door, and then periodically if any moist air should enter the case. Also, it is not a traditional de-humidifier, but rather some sort of light activated catalytic moisture absorbing reaction (see Sirui website for details). So far the unit works as intended. The settings are holding the RH within the stated range of +/- 5%, and once you determine the offset, it holds very steady at the set point. The cabinet has a nice handle and sturdy lock, which is not bugler proof, but is a nice security feature to at least keep the door closed and family out. The energy consumption should be about $0.25 a month based upon the specs I read. I keep (2) large format lenses, (2) medium format bodies, (2) rangefinder bodies, about (12) various lenses, plus meters and speed lights in the HC-110. A smaller collection could easily fit into one of the smaller Sirui cabinets, IMHO, B&H should be selling a lot more of these units. It is a small percentage of the cost of all of my gear, and I feel better about knowing it is stored properly when not in use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cabinet My concern for my expensive photography bodies and lenses drove me to look for a humidity control cabinet. I looked at a couple of different manufacturers and size cabinets and chose the Sirui HC-110. I have 3 bodies each with a battery grip, 6 lenses in eluding a 200-0400 F/4 all fit comfortably with room to grow. Only drawback is the bottom shelf cannot be used at the lower level ,the adjustable shelves due to the humidity unit sticks out an inch or so inside the cabinet preventing the drawers to be fully pushed to the rear. Not a big deal and able to work around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I'd Bought it Sooner We moved from dry Canada to tropical Panama and I did not think about humidity issues until my Canon EF 400mm F/2.8 II developed mold inside the sealed unit and had to be thrown away after only 3 years of use. After this very costly mistake, I purchased the Sirui HC-110 Control Cabinet for the rest of my gear. In fact, I am considering buying another one for the rest of our electronics as I can't believe how fast salty humid air ruins things. This cabinet has been a life-saver and I have been very happy with the construction and performance--the shelves are padded, adjustable and the cabinet is also attractive. I also love the locking tempered glass door as it gives me a sense of security when strangers or small children are visiting. My only complaint is that I had to buy a separate hydrometer so I can see the humidity level at all times as the display on the cabinet goes "dark" and does not show the reading at all times. If you live in hot and humid climate don't make the mistake I did and wait until it is too late, it is a far cheaper option to buy the cabinet then to replace gear. I sure wish I'd bought it sooner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product I received the cabinet in good condition. B & H went the extra mile to pack the 50 some lbs cabinet inside a wisely designed wooden crate. The package moved from New York to Los Angeles with no damage. That is very very commendable. The products itself only get 4 stars for the indicator always show about 10% higher humidity then actually indicated inside the cabinet by my five meters. For two weeks I experiment various ways to learn how to use it. If I set to 40% it will keep dehumidify the cabinet to around 30% . Seems like I need to call the help line. I think it needs to be calibrated. Otherwise it serves my purpose. I used to store my gear inside bags, humidity regularly reach 70% or more. My HC-110 store all my cameras and lenses now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Safe Storage I received the unit in good shape, well packaged by B&H. Sturdy, good looking,I feel better that my photo equipment is in a humidity protected, locked cabinet better than stored long term in camera bags. Convenient that when I am ready to go out on a shoot the cabinet has all my bodies and lens displayed for quick selection. Only drawback is the bottom shelf has to stay up about a foot because the power unit inside will not allow shelf to pushed to the rear, still not a big problem and easily worked around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice unit for daily camera, lens and accessory storage A few years ago, I sold my older 35mm lens and camera gear and upgraded to digital rangefinder and digital medium format gear. When I sold my lenses, I found that most of them had light to moderate fungus growth on inner lens surfaces. As you may know, this cannot usually be cleaned or repaired. These lenses were only ever stopped in NJ and CA. Up unto recently, I was storing my equipment in homemade dry boxes using metal desiccant canisters. This became unmanageable with more gear and accessories. I bought the larger Sirui HC-110 humidity control cabinet, but it came with damaged packaging and some bent legs and door. B&H Photo replaced it within 24 hours, including free return shipping. The replacement unit was better packaged and arrived in perfect condition. It is a quick set-up, and it has a nice locking door. The fit and finish is good (it could be a slight bit better, but I am satisfied with the value). The RH sensor does not maintain the exact RH that you set, but it is within the +/-5% RH of the published specs. Once you know what the offset is, you can make the small adjustment and the unit will hold that almost perfectly. Several people asked, is there is a drip pain or hose?; no, there is not. The unit is only removing a very small fraction of an ounce of water from the air within the cabinet, and then only after you open and close the door. The unit operates using a light activated catalyst, and the small amount water vapor is discharged to the room air, infrequently. According to the specs, this is what accounts for the very low energy use, which sounds like it is under $0.25 per month. So far, I am really liking this unit. I have it set to maintain 45% RH. If you have an expensive lens + body + accessory collection, this is a small investment long-term protection from mold and fungus.
