Equipped with the same features as the DataLocker DL3, the 256GB DL3 Encrypted External USB 3.0 Solid State Drive from DataLocker further enhances the DL3's capabilities by replacing the traditional hard drive with an 256GB SSD. The DataLocker DL3 SSD is able to better perform under extreme temperatures, ranging from 32 to 158°F, as well as thick humidity. SSDs are also better protected against potential damage caused by bumps, drops, and dust and are also able to boot more quickly than traditional hard drives. Their lack of moving parts also helps SSDs run quieter and helps to reduce wear and tear, as the drive lacks read and write heads.
The DataLocker DL3 SSD is designed for those who need drive security and utilizes 256-bit AES encryption in XTS mode to fully encrypt your drive's contents. It also features a built-in LCD touchscreen, allowing users to perform virtually all processes using the LCD interface. This helps to make the DL3 SSD platform independent.
The DL3 SSD also features a rotating keypad that helps prevent surface analysis for fingerprint or pattern examination and a self-destruct mode that wipes the encryption key after a customizable set number of failed password attempts. The touchscreen keypad itself is alphanumeric and backlit, allowing users to create strong passwords for increased security. Additional security is provided through DataLocker Link technology, which allows a DL3 to be paired to a specific computer, which further helps prevent unauthorized data access.
The DL3 SSD connects to your system using a USB 3.0 connection which is also USB 2.0 compatible. It has a minimum power requirement of 5V and 1A of current that is drawn from the USB port. While the DL3 SSD is compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux, it comes pre-formatted for Windows NTFS, but also supports HFS, EXT, and FAT. Included with the DL3 SSD is a USB cable.
