Blackout – pressing this button blacks out the fixture
Fade – this button activates the Color-Fade program
Color – this button activates the Static-Color mode (use the "+" and "-" buttons to scroll through the colors)
Sound-Active – this button activates Sound-Active mode
Auto-Run – this button activates Auto-Run mode (use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the speed of the effect)

Does it need to be in line-of-sight?

this remote works on radio frequency (RF) nor Infrared (IR) so does not need to be line of sight. Works up to about 75' away.
