MSI A88X Overview

The MSI A88XI-AC V2 Mini-ITX Motherboard lets you create a compact mid-range system for personal or business use. It features a FM2/FM2+ socket that supports AMD's A-series and Athlon processors to provide performance while working with applications. For multitasking, you can populate its two DDR3 memory slots with up to 32GB of non-ECC unbuffered RAM modules. Additionally, MSI has outfitted this motherboard with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 technologies so you can use this system as a multimedia PC in your living room.

By supporting an AMD APU processor, this motherboard can deliver visuals via an integrated graphics engine through the HDMI, DVI-D, and VGA ports. When more graphics performance is needed, it has a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot that can hold a dedicated graphics card. Additionally, four internal SATA III connectors allow your system to access storage and optical drives. For external devices, this motherboard has two USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports along with a PS/2 combo port.

MSI offers other features that complete or enhance your system. They have outfitted this motherboard with a Gigabit Ethernet LAN jack as well as a Realtek ALC887 chip to deliver 7.1-channel high definition audio. To increase the system's stability and lifespan, Military Class 4 components are used in creating this motherboard. Furthermore, MSI lets you easily fine-tune or increase the performance of your system by offering OC Genie 4 and M Flash.

Military Class 4
The core of Military Class 4 is based on the essentials to help increase your system's stability in sub-optimal conditions. The humidity and high temperature protections help ensure your system survive in different types of environments. The structure of the PCB helps limit EMI radiation. On top of that, all the connectors have ESD protection to prevent short circuits.

Additionally, the Dark Choke uses a core design that lowers temperatures with higher capacities and offers efficient power as well as stability. With an aluminum design, the Solid CAPs provide a lower equivalent series resistance (ESR).
OC Genie 4
The one-second overclocking option OC Genie helps increase performance. Just hit the button and your PC receives the equivalent of an adrenalin shot, providing a performance boost. However, please bear in mind that the OC Genie supports 65W K-series APU only.
Click BIOS 4
The MSI Click BIOS 4 is a UEFI BIOS with optimizations for Windows 8. It reacts faster, runs smoother, and has better mouse support.
Fast Boot
MSI Fast Boot helps your system quickly boot up and features a GO2BIOS button. Simply click it to restart your PC and go straight to the system BIOS.
