Built from anodized aluminum, ISV certified, and MIL-STD-810G tested, the Precision M6800 463-5903 17.3" Mobile Workstation Computer from Dell designed for professionals who require reliability and high performance for tasks such as designing digital content, working with CAD models, analyzing manufacturing processes, or running other performance-intensive applications. The M6800 is powered by a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7-4710MQ Quad-Core processor, allowing multiple applications to be run simultaneously. If you need more power, the CPU also features a burst speed of up to 3.3 GHz, and the system's 16GB of 204-pin SO-DIMM 1600 MHz PC3-12800 DDR3L RAM allows the system to quickly access frequently-used files and programs. The current memory configuration is 2 x 8GB modules with an additional two slots available for memory upgrades, making for a total of four 204-pin SO-DIMM slots that support 32GB, or 8GB per slot. Users may also opt to use 1866 MHz memory, but the system will then only support 16GB instead of 32GB.
The 17.3" Dell UltraSharp widescreen display features a wide angle of view and LED backlighting, which consumes less power and conserves more energy than its CCFL counterparts. The display is also constructed using an anti-glare panel, has a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a Full HD 1920 x 1080 native resolution, allowing the M6800 to play Full HD 1080p content natively without upscaling or letterboxing. The display is powered by dedicated a NVIDIA Quadro K3100M graphics card with 4GB of GDDR5 RAM and delivers a sharp, clear picture. You'll also be able to output video to an external display via the built-in HDMI, DisplayPort, and VGA port.
For long-term storage of your files, a 512GB SATA III 6 Gb/s SSD provides quick access to your data. While this SSD may not have the larger capacity of a traditional hard drive, SSDs contain no moving parts and are able to operate with faster data transfer speeds. Having no moving parts also helps protect SSDs against damage from bumps and drops, as well as receive less wear and tear, as the drives have no read or write heads for the media to come into contact with.
External peripherals, such as printers, additional storage, optical drives, and memory card readers may be connected using the 4 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x USB 2.0 port, or 1 x eSATA port. Gigabit Ethernet is achieved using an integrated Intel 82579M/V Ethernet controller and 802.11ac Wi-Fi is also built-in for connecting wirelessly. Additional compatible peripherals, such as keyboards, headsets, and mice may be paired using Bluetooth 4.0 technology, and a media card reader supports SD, SDIO, SDXC, xD-Picture Card, Memory Stick, MMC, and MMC+ cards.
Whether you are listening to music, watching a movie, or playing a game, the integrated stereo speakers feature Waves MaxxAudio Pro which provides sound quality with high fidelity. Use the dual integrated noise-canceling microphones to record your own audio, or use it alongside the integrated HD webcam to engage in face-to-face conversations using Skype or other software.
The Dell Precision M6800 is powered by an included 240W AC adapter that runs on 120/230 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Also included is a 9-cell battery and while the installed operating system is Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), a Windows 8.1 Professional (64-bit) licenses is provided at no extra cost.
