The Modo Motion Time-Lapse System from Cinevate is a mechanically driven add-on module for Duzi v3 camera sliders that lets you capture smooth time-lapse videos without the hassle of more complex motorized systems. Using a clockwork combined with spring energy, Modo doesn't require any power, controllers, cables, or programming to operate, resulting in a compact and easy to use linear motion solution.

Modo mounts directly on a Duzi v3 camera plate and can be configured for slide speeds of 24" per hour or 34" per hour, with optional upgrades available to enable slower 12" and 17" per hour slides. Once Modo is attached, simply move the Duzi's carriage across the rails to wind up the Modo and then let it go to begin your slide. To switch back to manual slider operation, Modo's drive wheel pulls back to free up the carriage without having to remove Modo or your camera from the slider.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A little tricky but it's cool when it works I've had mild success with this add-on to my Duzi slider. There's a video on tweaking the device, I haven't tweaked it yet, but the slider and the Modo Motion are brand new, so I hoped I wouldn't have to. The Modo Motion really wants the slider to be flat. If it's going uphill it doesn't have enough power, if it's going downhill too far, it will slip and go too fast. You definitely need to crank the Modo Motion fully before starting it. I've had mild success trying it with a DSLR, a lightweight camcorder, and a very light GoPro. When it hasn't worked properly it usually doesn't move. One time it when fast for about an inch and then slowed down again. This is all stuff that I could probably fix by tweaking it. All in all, I'm glad I bought it but it's not as fool proof (i.e. me) as I would like it to be. I would still recommend it. You can some really cool b-roll footage for your movies with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A simple and elegant tool This is a great way to move your camera slowly across the slider while recording at normal rate, or capturing still frames at specific intervals. When the footage is sped up to 100x or more, the effect is to see clouds or water or people moving quickly, while the camera moves right to left or left to right slowly. I have had the tool for only a few weeks and I find the process of capturing time lapse footage invigorating. Well worth the modest price. You must have a Cinevate Duzi slider V3 or V4 for this to work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Returning the item When it works, its fine. But I'm finding that it doesn't work consistently. Sometimes it progresses ok for a few inches and then stops. I've also had times when it move fine but then suddenly slides an extra 2 inches in one movement. I've been through all the adjustments/tweeking advice - but it seems that every time you use it, it has to be tweaked for that specific use. Basically, it means you play with it a lot and still hope that it moves correctly. Also disappointed in the demo videos, they show night time timelapses and even a northern lights clip. Since its an egg timer style design, its constantly moving so your shutter time has to be quick - any night sequences will end up with the foreground being totally blurred. I can't recommend it, in fact, I'm returning mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING PRODUCT I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this product is. Not only is it very portable, but it works without plugs, batteries or wires. The DUZI slider itself is an amazing innovation. Portable and easy to travel with and best of all now I can capture amazing time lapse video on my DSLR AND my iPhone!! I have literally created dozens of time lapse videos since I received my modo and I have used them in several client videos. This is by far an amazing and innovative product that anyone can use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from WAY too finicky.. As other reviewers say it's fine when it works. The problem is that it's extremely finicky; you have to get everything just right but after dozens of tries I can honestly say I still don't know why it works sometimes and not others. I get it to work properly one out of every five tries. Keep in mind that during these five tries I'm wasting time, battery power in my camera, possibly light, and sometimes file space on my card. Frustrating product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Save your money Great idea but it's not there yet. Out of the 20 or so time lapses I've tried I have yet to get a single full slide across the Duzi slider. Half way is a good effort. Most of the time it doesn't slide at all or slides in strange, staggered increments. Wish I wouldn't have bought it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice idea, just wish it was more reliable The idea is great. And when it works its awesome. Such a simple way to turn your duzi into a motion timelapse tool. I have owned the product for about 8 months now and when it works, it works great. But you really have to spend some time turing the duzi to have it function properly. I just feel that the tuning system on the duzi is over-complicated. Lots of back and forth and playing around and you never really know if you've set it up so the modo will work straight away. I'd say 2 out of every 5 times I use it, it works. The rest of the time my slider is fractionally too stiff at some random point along the rails and the modo stops in its tracks. I end up having to set everything up early and doing a test run or two to know its actually going to work, which kinda defeats the reason I bought it (having something I could set up very quickly to get some simple timelape shots). I've watched the videos a few times, its not like I'm being lazy. Unfortunately there aren't many other cheaper time lapse options so I'll probably stick it out for a while.
