Panasonic DMC-GH3 Overview

Pairing the multimedia camera with a versatile wide-to-tele zoom, the Lumix DMC-GH3 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera with 14-140mm Lens Kit from B&H includes a camera and lens combo designed to suit working in a wide variety of situations.

The GH3 features a 16.05 MP Micro Four Thirds Live MOS sensor and a Venus Engine image processor to enable full-resolution RAW shooting up to 6 fps as well as full HD 1080p video recording at 60 or 24 fps in the AVCHD or MP4 format. An expandable sensitivity range of ISO 125 to ISO 25600 benefits working in low-light conditions and the Light Speed AF system produces consistent and fast focusing performance, regardless of the shooting conditions. Both a 1,744k-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a 3.0" 614k-dot OLED touchscreen are available for live view monitoring, image playback, and menu navigation, and the 3.0" monitor features a tilting design to better facilitate working from high and low angles. Revolving around a ruggedly-designed, dust and splash-proof body, the GH3 is constructed from a magnesium alloy frame and also houses built-in Wi-Fi connectivity that affords instant image transferring and remote camera control capabilities from linked mobile devices.

Included with the camera body is the well-rounded Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. lens, which provides a 28-280mm equivalent focal length range to cover wide-angle to telephoto perspectives. An Optical Image Stabilizer compensates for camera shake for sharper handheld shooting while aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements help to minimize the overall lens size and maintain a high degree of sharpness and clarity throughout the zoom range.

question

What is the cameras native ISO?
Asked by: Ollie L.
I believe the base ISO or native ISO is 200. You can go lower, but according to a post I found, image quality is worse at lower ISO settings using the Extended ISO setting which goes from 125 to 25,600. Here is one comment I ran across that defines Native ISO (which appears to be a term with indefinite meaning). This is supposedly from a Canon rep: It's the ISO setting where the camera's chip was designed for and test results are based on this ISO sensitivity. For the 1DmkIII this is ISO 200,... It's the ISO setting where you should get the best results with as well, and the ISO setting it will (try to) be using whenever possible in any (semi-)automatic mode.
