Benro TMA48CL Overview

  • 1Description

Support up to 44.1 lb worth of gear with the TMA48CL Long Series 4 Mach3 Carbon Fiber Tripod from Benro. Made from 9-layer carbon fiber, the 4-section legs are secured via twist locks and extend to a maximum height of 69.3". The center column can be replaced with the included short column to allow the tripod to reach a minimum height of 14.2". The rubber feet can be swapped out for metal spikes so that the tripod can be used on hard surfaces, such as ice, or soft surfaces, like carpeting or a lawn. A ballast hook on the center column allows for the addition of stabilizing weight, and the included carrying case protects the tripod during transport. A 3/8"-16 threaded stud on the mounting platform lets you attach a head of your choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I have. This is a fantastic tripod and I just noticed they discontinued it, what a shame. I have three other tripods but this one tops them all. Yes, it's a little heavy but I needed something that was solid and taller than the usual tripod so I didn't have to stoop to reach my viewfinder. This tripod is extremely sturdy weather in in the studio or in the field. It's easy to use with very smooth leg locks and twist openers for the leg extensions. Once I got use to them I can open and close this system faster than I can an older latch type system and I don't have to worry about the latches getting caught on stuff. I also have a Benro aluminum tripod that I predominantly use indoors. It's taller than the carbon fiber system so I can use it to do overhead shots. Both Benro tripods are excellent systems both are very sturdy and well built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tripod if you need a tall >60 in (153 cm) I use this Tripod for outdoor wildlife photos. I purchased this tripod because if is carbon fiber (for lighter transport) and the height that it can extend to 153cm (60) center column retracted. It happens to be the same weight as my older aluminum tripod, but much taller. No measurable mirror slap or shutter shock: Considering how tall this tripod extends to, I was concerned there may be some mirror slap or shutter shock with my largest lens (Canon 70-200 f2.8L) and 0.65kg (1.4lbs) Benro B4 ball head. With the legs fully extended and the center column retracted, there was some wobble to it, but only if I touched the camera lens or tripod. There was none from the mirror or shutter regardless of the exposure time. This was true indoors with the rubber feet or outdoors with the included spiked feet. Overall I'm very satisfied, I believe that it is a bargain for the quality relative to other tripod vendors.
