Benro COM39C Overview

  • 1Description

Ideal for heavy cameras and lenses, the COM39C Combination Tripod from Benro has an impressive load capacity of 39.7 lb. Its 5-section flip-lock legs extend the base plate up to 52.6", and because there is no center column, the tripod's plate sits just 5.1" above the ground at its lowest setting. The flat mounting plate can be replaced with a variety of Benro accessories such as a leveling bowl, leveling base, or a geared center column. Swapping the plate out does not require the use of any tools.

The legs are made from 9-layer carbon fiber, maximizing the strength-to-weight ratio, contributing to the large load capacity of the COM39C. Both standard and oversized rubber feet are included to add stability on slippery surfaces. A ballast hook on the mounting plate allows the addition of a stabilizing weight, and a carrying case is included to protect the tripod during transport.

    Benro COM39C Reviews

COM39C Combination Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than just a photo tripod I own a Manfrotto MT190 CXPRO4 tripod and it is wonderful, especially the 90 degree column for macro use. But I am also a video guy who has an Edelkrone slider. The weight of the tripod head and camera causes the central column to bend with the weight of the slider and it both makes me uncomfortable and makes my shots less nice looking. Also, the column makes it harder to do low slider shots and low shots in general without using the 90 degree column. This made me look for a flat, column-less tripod. I needed something small that collapses shorter for travel, so I ran into this one. After it arrived, I evaluated it. I love it. The build quality is very good, close to Manfrotto and the flat head mounting is perfect for video. The extra 5th stage makes the tripod smaller than others and a bit taller too when fully extended. I had concerns about a vibrating leg, but with all the weight of the slider, camera, and backpack it is as sturdy as a rock. As expected, the Carbon Fiber and Magnesium Alloy makes this tripod very lightweight. Also, it came with a very nice bag that would very well compliment my travels. Aside from the pros, I do have some cons about this product. Near the base, it is very easy to manipulate the angle of the legs, and this makes it hard to transport while deployed, sometimes it crushes my fingers, but that's me being stupid grabbing it at an awkward angle. If the screws were a bit tighter, it would be more akin to the quality of a Manfrotto. Also, the top base is noticeably wider than the Manfrotto, so it takes a bit more width real estate, but it not extreme. Of no general concern, but worthy of mention is that the leg locks, which I feel are vastly superior to Twist locks for my rapid use, do not feel as Premium as Manfrotto's Quick Power Lock, but it does feel sturdy when locked. Overall, this is a satisfying product, got it on sale so it's actually cheaper than the Manfrotto, and came with a half bowl. I am getting a half ball to go with it. I would highly recommend this product form people who make videos, use sliders, or generally need an extremely stable and low stance for both photos and videos. I intend to keep my Manfrotto, but this is gonna be my goto video tripod. Pros: Sturdy Build Rock Solid stance when weight is applied Small when collapsed Tall when extended Nice flat feet attachments Bottom Hook for extra stability Flat head mount Great Bag Cons: Easy to manipulate the leg angles when not careful Wider top basin takes up more space

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Well Made But ... I was looking for a tripod without a center column that collapsed to a shorter length than my current model for ease of airline travel. This did that but at a cost. Being a 5 section tripod the final leg segment has a very small diameter making the tripod somewhat unstable and subject to vibration. It would be fine in good conditions but I didn't think it would hold up in the currents of the ocean or even a moderate flowing stream. I ended up sending it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes I travel to remote areas around the world and do lots of slider time lapse. These legs work great for me. The center hook is essential to help keep the tripod steady by hanging weight in it. If you keep I think clean, it will keep you happy.
