FEISOL CB-30D Overview

The head's quick release clamp utilizes the Arca-type standard which allows most Arca-type compatible plates to be mounted without interference. The clamp uses a twist-knob to lock the plate in place and also features a button-style safety lock to prevent plates from slipping off the head accidentally. Additionally, the CB-30D features an independent 360° panning base with separate pan lock and a friction control knob to adjust the head's movement speed and resistance.

I have had this for about a year. I love the size and portability. However there are 2 annoying things .... 1. There is hex screw inside gets loose and there is play in the head... which is a real issue with slower SS.... I was taking landscape shots in Iceland and had to find a hex screwdriver to tighten the head otherwise all my landscape shots would have been ruined. 2. There is a small knob on the side and it inadvertently tightens so hard that one needs pliers to loosen it.

Is this clamp compatible with Wimberley plates?

Yes, FEISOL CB-30D Ball Head has standar arca type clamps which is compatible with Wimberley dovetail arca plates.

Does Arca type mean it will accept Arca plates or not?

Arca-Swiss refers to a rail system which has become somewhat of an industry standard. Arca-Swiss compatible means that this rail system is used. Many such products have additional security systems to keep the plates from coming out of their clamps, accidentally. These systems may not be compatible across various brands. The plates can still be used but you have to make extra sure that the clamp has been tightened.
