Savage LED30 overview

  • 1Description

Often used in lighting kits, the 5500K daylight-balanced 30W, 120V Savage LED Studio Lamp is a fan-cooled, tri-band technology LED light source with an E26 Edison base and a high CRI of 90 for accurate color rendition. Like all LED sources of this type it runs cool and consumes very little current. The 30W LED lamp is the equivalent of a 250W tungsten flood lamp.

    Savage LED30 reviews

LED Studio Lamp (30W, 120V) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The future of lighting? I think so. I bought the affordable (cheap) Savage LED umbrella stand set and it came with two of these bulbs. Turns out this was a really good deal. I came back to B&H to see if I could find out what these lamps were and hey! B&H sells these too! I'm going to get more and toss all my old hi-wattage tungsten daylight bulbs. These lights have a very quiet fan, possibly no louder than a person breathing. They put out a good deal of light (I was skeptical), very cool daylight tone that mixes well with incoming sunlight. They are lightweight, do not require heavy extension cords, and will probably never trip 15-amp circuits! Of course they don't cook the subjects either. The plastic case will probably crack if dropped - but to be fair I don't know of too many glass bulbs that will survive a drop. They do run cool so you can handle them and pack them up right away. You also don't need to protect subjects from potential shattering bulbs (like if you photograph babies.) The standard screw base means you could use these bulbs in many types of light fixtures (for spot & floodlights anyways.) So I recommend these highly. You'll save over the long run replacing 250 Watt daylight bulbs, and wouldn't need to carry more than one spare bulb if any at all. The only negative I can think of is that perhaps the array of point-source LEDs - if used for very close (inch or two) lighting, might show a lot of tiny shadows, so a diffusion (umbrella or reflecting wall) would be needed. Also realize they are not designed to be dimmed, you'll have to do that mechanically (distance, reflection, gobo..etc.) So that's all I know about using these bulbs. I think they are a great improvement over tungsten. The only reservation I have yet is that I'll have to see how long they really last, I expect forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just as described I bought two of these and use them for studio lighting. The fans inside make a very quiet noise, which is what I expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more HOT lights! I bought these bulbs to convert an inexpensive tungsten light kit to LED. I love that I don't have to worry as much about breakage. The lights are as bright as the 220 W bulbs I had for the kit. I would recommend them as incandescent replacements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I was concerned about if the cooling fan in the unit might be a problem since I will be using this for video work, but was pleasantly surprised. Unless the microphone was right next to the light I don't think it would pick it up. When I used it I was the only one of 4 people in the room that could hear it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great cool running constant light source Great lights, run cool though a bit noisy with built in fans. Great for constant light source. Easier than trying to model the subject with trial and error of flash units.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My bad! I bought this lamp and the 50W. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this lamp, but for my purposes, I wish I had bought two 50W. Plan to purchase the second 50W soon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cheap LED Lamp for stills! I bounce the beam off the ceiling as a fill for stills. The hum from the internal fan makes it useless for video.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Led lighting I wanted to use this to try butterfly lighting with my granddaughters. It gives enough light to do this.
