The SONY vertical soft carrying case is a great case for the SONY RX100 "family" of cameras, but is a little pricey (at $140 in 2026). I say "family" as SONY claims for this carrying case to work on their RX100, and RX100II cameras only, but I have tested it on and use it with an RX100VA camera, and an RX100VII camera and the cameras fit in the case in my instances. Note: on the RX100VII camera I have in particular, has a "drag" interference fit while closing of the knurling on the adjusting ring around the lens- against the inner felt lining of the the case cover. The fit is a little tight and drags a little, but the case still opens and closes OK on the camera and I still use it with the RX100VII despite the drag felt while opening and closing the case. I have not noticed any problems with this developing over time thus far. The case accepts the RX100 cameras which have the optional grip accessory installed on them, no problems. The case accepts a SONY RX100 (version one) that has an aftermarket Lensmate filter adapter installed on the camera, no problem. The length of the strap IS just barely acceptable for comfortable use, but could have been a little longer. The ends of the strap can be removed to accept the installation of an OP/TECH battery case on them.
I just got myself the Sony RX100 VII and I wanted a case I could quickly slide my camera in and out of. This one was well worth the investment. Nice quality and has a very secure button closure at the bottom. The case fits my camera like a glove. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quick-acess kind of protective case for their camera!!
