Ibanez PF2MH Reviews

Surprisingly Playable!

I’ve been looking for a 3/4 to teach my young children to play for a while now. Decided to give this guitar a chance. For the price, I wasn’t expecting much. I was betting on it being playable more than anything else. Im happy to report that I wasn’t disappointed. First impressions: Compared to my full-size Larrivee dreadnaught, this guitar sounds like a toy. I’ve never played a 3/4, but I know I’m not going to get rich sound out of anything this small. I know there are more expensive 3/4 acoustics with better tone. If you’re an adult player, and this is your travel guitar, you might be disappointed. I read a review from another competitors website where a reviewer mentioned the frets were high. I don’t know what guitar the reviewer was comparing against, but the frets are fine. They feel pretty good to me actually. Another reviewer said the tuning pegs felt cheap. They’re not exactly precise, but I was able to tune it a few times after pulling strings (not much different than any newly strung guitar) and it’s staying in tune fine. Plays all the way up the neck. No buzzing. Stays in tune in the fretted perfect with the open strings. 10x better than a Rouge guitar (that was really unplayable) that we bought for our oldest several years ago. There was a very tiny dent on the binding in the back. The neck had a extra dried drip of varnish (easy to sand I suppose, if I do it at all.) Otherwise, it’s in good condition and looks great. Overall, this guitar is very playable, which is light years ahead of other more budget-oriented guitars. it’s been a lot of fun to play today too.
