Longtime hunting and fishing guide, custom knife-maker Russ Kommer applied his "Fit, Feel, and Function" approach in creating the CRKT Free Range Hunter Fixed Blade Knife. It features a combination drop point/gut hook blade made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, with a hollow grind for a blade with excellent maneuverability and an exceptionally sharp edge. For added control, the blade's spine has anti-skid grooves for choking up on the blade during delicate work.
Made for extensive use in the field, the handle is made of injection molded polymers. The black polymer is hard for strength and durability, while the gray polymer is softer for a more comfortable feel and slip-resistant grip. Finger grooves add more gripping strength and stability and are set at a forward angle for increased comfort. Using polymers ensures longevity and provides temperature-resistance so it is able to maintain a comfortable feel even in cold and wet conditions. The knife weighs in at 3.6oz with an overall length of 9.1"
