Saramonic SR-AX107 overview

  • 1Description

The Saramonic SR-AX107 2-Channel XLR Audio Adapter from IndiPro Tools is a 2-channel XLR audio adapter featuring an isolation transformer which provides a pure, noise-free sound, as well as preamplifier and phantom power controls. The device allows you to connect microphones, wireless microphones, digital recorders, external audio mixers, soundboards, and more to your DSLR camera or camcorder via two balanced XLR inputs.

The unit is designed to save hours in post-production. An on-board level meter allows you to verify the proper input levels in real time, and the output signal can be adjusted by the level controls for optimum recording. The dual headphone jacks feature isolated volume controls, and allow you monitor the audio from the adapter at the input and output points. Left and right Peak switches allow you to turn on/off the LED signal indicators which flash red for overload, and the ACG on/off switch reduces noise during quiet moments of recording by cutting out your camera's Auto Gain Control function.

Level controls allow you to balance both input levels

    Saramonic SR-AX107 reviews

Saramonic SR-AX107 2-Channel XLR Audio Adapter with Isolation Transformer for DSLRs is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Impressed This box looks like it should be amazing but it's not. It seems sturdy and well designed with switches and knobs right where I'd want them. No menus to fiddle with which I love. It seems to have all the features that I would expect from an audio interface like this; I had high hopes. I'm on my second unit and both have had -15 of system noise in the Left channel with the AGC turned off. What's the big deal right? If you work with an A2 you would know that it's the A2's job to regulate levels not the mixer itself. That's beside the point of course, it should work flawlessly right out of the box. For two units to fail the same way is ridiculous. After discovering this I've read similar complaints in other customer comments (shame on me for not checking). Saramonic has made a mediocre device that will work for you if you're not a pro and never plan on working like one. Plan on running with automatic gain control on all the time and never having the ability to turn it off without introducing noise into your sound.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from subpar I agree exactly with what Ed said below. I am on my 2nd unit and same problem as the 1st. The meters are also pretty much useless. I have spoken to Saramonic directly about the left channel and was told the 1st time I had a defective unit and to return it. The 2nd unit functioned the exact same way. This time I was told by Saramonic this is normal. I needed an audio solution fast and these were back ordered on B&H so unfortunately I had to buy elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great and compact solution for adding pro audio to DSLRs I was looking for a cost effective way to add a pro audio interface to my DSLR. I wanted the flexibility to use more than just a stereo shotgun. This unit does all that I need, and does it well. Phantom power -- YES. Line inputs -- Yes. Very low noise -- Yes. Metering -- Yes. and more.I like the tripod mount as well as the option to mount shotgun mics on each side. Last, it feel study but still not too heavy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Too heavy and bulky. Not enough clean gain, too much noise. I can not recommand this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good quality for the price It took me a while to get it all straight but so far - with just a few uses - very good. Am using a phantom power lav with the unit and all is working as described. Signal to noise ratio seems good. Lots of settings options on the front make it both flexible and a bit hard to follow and susceptible to accidental mispositioning of a switch. Overall, very good.
