Bought a new unit to replace one that stopped functioning. The new unit has drained 2 sets of brand new batteries within two weeks. Message boards show no identifiable solution to this. I would prefer my money back.

So yeah, set up and installation was easy. It hasn't actually been alerting us of an actual fire (thank goodness), but the testing worked well. The "light' they say illuminates the room when you walk in is underwhelming (as in not really), but yeah, you won't be tripping over anything in the room, because you can at least see what is around (kinda).

How do you stop this alarm from going off in the middle of the night?
Asked by: Bradley
Put out the fire. Seriously, first make sure there is not an actual emergency. This detector will tell you why it's going off usually. If not, grab your phone and open the Nest app - it will tell you why the alarm is going off and you can silence it there.

question

how long the battery lasts?
Asked by: Anonymous
Nest Protect will notify you in advance when the batteries are reaching a low condition, and another warning when they need to be replaced. Nest claims the batteries will last multiple years. Life expectancy will vary by the number of times the unit is set off and brightness settings and use of the path lights. (# of power failures on wired units). Shelf life of the battery is 10 years (non use). The life of the detector is 10 years.
