Rhino Camera Gear SKU121 overview

  • 1Description

Capture motorized live-motion slides and create time-lapse videos with the Essentials Slider Bundle from Rhino. The bundle features the 24" Rhino Slider EVO Carbon, which supports loads up to 15 lb, and the Rhino Motion system. Use the wheel on the Rhino Motion control unit to react to live performances, or program a slide with specific in and out points, travel time, ramping, and looping. The single compact motor provides precise, quiet operation.

Adding to the slider's versatility are its interchangeable rails, letting you swap the included lightweight 24" carbon fiber rails for optional 42" rails when longer slides are need, or stainless steel rails to support heavier camera loads. As part of this bundle, a soft carrying case is included designed to fit the fully assembled 24" slider, including the attached Rhino Motion, as well as optional accessories such as a fluid head and Rhino Arc.

  • Slider EVO Carbon (24")

The Rhino Slider EVO Carbon is a highly versatile, belt-driven camera slider that can adapt to your shooting needs. The system includes lightweight carbon fiber rails that support loads up to 15 lb, which can be swapped for optional 42" rails when longer slides are required. Additionally, optional stainless steel rails are available for when you need to support heavier loads. The slider can also be upgraded to a motorized system with the addition of the separately available Rhino Motion, allowing you to capture smooth live motion and time-lapses with a single motor.

The Rhino Slider EVO features a 3/8"-16 screw on the camera carriage for attaching a ball head or flat-base fluid head. It can be center-mounted on a tripod via 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes in the center of the rails, or supported using two tripods or stands via 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads at the ends of the tripod. You can also setup the slider for ground-level or table-top shooting using the included spring-loaded legs with index marks. The legs fold up for compact storage.

  • Motion for EVO Sliders

Rhino Motion includes a motor and controller for Rhino EVO sliders. It's designed to capture live motion and time-lapse shots, and offers two time-lapse modes — Simple Time-lapse and Advanced Time-lapse, the latter allowing you to control the shutter, so you won't need an external intervalometer. The shutter is released by the Rhino Motion itself.

Within the other option — Simple Time-lapse — you get to assign the travel distance, total time, and ramping (easing in and out). You can also assign a Loop setting that lets you repeat the assigned timeplase in the opposite direction so you can film an interview with your B-camera autonomously moving back and forth. After the start of the time-lapse, the LCD of the controller will then display status figures, such as Percentage Done.

During live motion capture you can turn the camera in real time by turning the wheel on the dial, ensuring a better chance of capturing spontaneous moments. The wheel incorporates an advanced magnetic encoder technology that provides highly responsive control during filming as well as menu navigation.

The motor features an ultra-precise .7µ resolution drive system and 7-hour built-in battery. The extended battery life enables you to use Rhino Motion on multiple shoots on a single charge. The motor also functions at nearly silent operation when at low speeds, so you can capture quality video and audio simultaneously.

    • Capture live motion and time-lapse shots

Rhino Camera Gear SKU121 reviews

Essentials Slider Bundle is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from not as good as i hoped I bought this directly from rhino and the unit is solid, the case is high quality but not without some internal issues. I had to send back my remote 2 times due to manufacture issues. They were great in replacing it so that is a positive, but now I'm having issues with the time lapse function to where I will take my images into post and realize the controller is not exposing all the images the same. I have it set to bulb mode like they say but when I am using a faster shutter like 1/30 it doesnt do a good job at all. It only works well if you plan to do longer shutter releases. So im a bit disappointed in these issues because i was hoping for a truly solid product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good beginner motion timelapse slide with a few exceptions This product is very well-built and comes with a great case to bring with me on hiking trips. Very simple, clean setup with only one required cable and 7 hour battery life. The thing I wish I realized before I purchased it is the caveat with using it's Advanced Move-Shoot-Move setting. With this setting, you have to put: - Use a shutter release cable - Put camera in Bulb mode - Set the shutter speed on the slide controller (and subsequent ISO and aperture on camera) From there, you tell the controller how long you want to run the timelapse for and it automatically calculates the interval (but doesn't display it for you). Being forced to set the shutter speed in the controller means I can change it during a timelapse, which means if I have changes in light (e.g. night to day) timelapse, I cannot use the Advanced mode (move-shoot-move) and have to stick to the Basic timelapse, which allows you to keep all control over camera's exposure, but doesn't stop the slider when firing the shutter. I've been told this won't be a big deal in terms of motion blur (e.g. astrophotography), but I haven't tried it for myself yet. Finally, it has a pan accessory, but no tilt. So, the maximum axes of motion you will get with this are 2. I still think it's great for an entry-level timelapse rig that is really simple, elegant and portable, but if you're looking to do more advanced motion timelapses, take a hard look before pulling the trigger on this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not blown away. I like the weight, compact size, how it neatly packs away in the included case. I do not like how little effect it seems to have on the movement. I think the longer 42 size would be better. I may upgrade to that. However I think with the pan head on it, it will be fine at 24. I also find that it's slightly jumpy. I notice it just a bit. It doesn't seem to show in the video though, so maybe it's just me being overly critical. I would suggest it, but i would suggest getting the 42 version.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not perfect but really good. Good product. I like the materials they used. All the components are made by carbon fiber, aluminum and very high end plastic. What I don't like is the feedback of the remote control. The wheel is fine but in order to select you have to push the wheel itself and it's pretty hard to do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect control of movement The slider is very easy and fast to assemble and use. It comes with a bag that carries all gear. Works smoothly but you can hear a motor sound, that could be annoying if you are shooting recording sound. In my case I shoot jewelry and I don't need to record sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome slider! This is the perfect slider...compact, light and the motor is very quiet at slow speed. The rhino armor bag could be a couple centimeters bigger and with another pocket to carry cables and other accesories. The zipper is the worst part of it...very hard to close at times.
