Panasonic WV-SW397A Overview

The Panasonic WV-SW397A Super Dynamic Weather-Resistant HD PTZ Dome Network Camera with Rain Wash Coating captures high-quality footage with good sensitivity, thanks to its 2.4MP double speed MOS image sensor. Panasonic‘s UniPhier LSI chip allows this network camera to simultaneously stream real-time imagery in H.264 and JPEG formats at a full frame resolution of 1280 x 960 at 30 fps.

With the Super Dynamic and ABS (Adaptive Black Stretch) technology at its core, this dome camera delivers a 128x wider dynamic range compared to conventional cameras. This increases the visibility of subjects in dark areas. The camera also comes equipped with Face Super Dynamic technology that captures clear face images by precisely detecting the position of a human face. This information is sent to you via XML or a video stream. The camera’s advanced auto tracking feature enables it to automatically pan and tilt the image while keeping the subject in the center of the image, irrespective of its movement. In addition, the 360° panning allows precise capture of almost any object surrounding the camera.

Capturing detailed images in low-light conditions can be a challenge with a lot of CCTV cameras, but not for the WV-SW397A. It captures clear color images at an illumination of 0.3 lux, and B&W images at 0.04 lux at F/1.6 (wide). Enabled with Digital Noise Reduction (2D and 3D-DNR), the camera significantly reduces video noise (grainy images) and motion blur in varying lighting conditions. Alarm sources, including Video Motion Detection and Panasonic alarm command, can trigger actions such as FTP image transfer, e-mail notification, indication on browser, and Panasonic alarm protocol output. The privacy zone feature masks up to 32 private areas like house windows and entrances. Furthermore, the user-friendly GUI allows for smoother PTZ controls with 16 speed pan/tilt, drag, and zoom operation.

Being Power over Ethernet (PoE+) compliant, the camera can be installed almost anywhere and not just near a power supply. The housing of the camera is IP66 rated for outdoor use, and sports a hydrophilic rain wash coating that rinses away dirt, and minimizes spots and streaks by helping the glass dry more quickly and evenly.
