Peak Design SLL-1 overview

  • 1Description

The black SlideLITE Camera Strap SLL-1 from Peak Design is an adjustable camera strap that can be worn as a sling, shoulder, or neck strap. It features Peak Design's unique Anchor Link system to quickly attach and detach the strap from your camera. Two latches on the strap allow for one-handed adjustment to the strap's length. Designed for mirrorless cameras, this SLL-1 model strap offers a thinner 1.25" width and is shorter and lighter than the SL1 strap.

To wear the Slide as a sling-style strap, one side of the strap attaches to the included Arca-type compatible QR plate on the bottom of the camera, and the other attaches to the standard strap loop on the top. One side of the strap is smooth, so that you can easily slide your camera up to your eye when using the strap as a sling. The other side has a gripped surface for using the Slide as a shoulder or neck strap. The Slide is compatible with all versions of Peak Design's Capture camera clips.

    Peak Design SLL-1 reviews

SlideLITE Camera Strap SLL-1 (Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 148.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from interesting design, but fussy and potential LCD damage Similar to the Joby strap in use, but easier to take off and clever integrated tripod plate. The part of the strap that attaches to the round thingies is rather bulky and right next to the camera so it is a bit fussy to hold the top one out of your way while trying to use the LCD in portrait. When putting the camera into a bag with the strap attached the bottom one tends to flip up onto the LCD potentially damaging it if it is pressed or moved back and forth. The length adjustment works well, but the metal buckles are potential scratchers as well. So be prepared to take your strap off (pretty easy to to do) before you pack your camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grat Strap Let me start this out with the pretense that I hate camera straps. That being said thais strap is great. I am a landscape and nature photographer and filmmaker so my colleges would often poke fun at me for hiking and climbing with one hand. I never used straps... ever. but this strap is the strap for people who hate straps. the ability to remove or add the strap very quickly and easily is priceless. now I can explore safely and comfortably but also not worry about the strap getting caught on a slider or tripod messing up a shot. I shot mostly mirrorless, but I have used this strap on a larger DSLR (5D mkIV) and It is still very comfortable, so its hard to beat this price for the quality

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME Excellent product, outstanding build quality, prime materials. Peak Design's Anchor Link system is extremely easy to use and very handy. I use this strap with my Canon DSLR and it does a great job with any size of bodies and lenses. This strap is a MUST-HAVE for all DSLR users.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, an inovative camera strap that works! Want a camera strap that you can use around your neck? How about on your shoulder, or a cross body style? You got it. Wait, it's too long/short? No worries, adjust the length in under five seconds. Really! And very comfortable as well. You think it's expensive for a nylon strap? Not when you factor in the the included arca swiss quick release plate which also acts as an anchor for the strap when used in the cross body style. I have a Fujifilm X-T2 and the anchor plate doesn't interfere with the flip screen or block access to the battery door, two things I was concerned about. The only option I would have liked to have seen would have been a selection of colors, rather than just black. Overall, an easy 5 star rating!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile & lightweight Camera Strap In use, this strap measures up to the video reviews and more. It is extremely versatile with the unique adjustment mechanism, as well as the removable secure-snap loop ends. I have loops on both my camera and small Sony Digital SLR carrying case and can transfer the strap between the two in seconds. The silicon friction stripes seem like a good idea - I haven't quite go the hang of how to use them. So, the lightweight, versatility, and secure attachment loops are all top quality. Helps minimize the 'lugging stuff around' syndrome. It would be nice if there were a clip-compatible hand-lanyard as well. Definitely worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mixed feeling I bought SlideLite for my Sony A7R2 mirrorless camera. Before I placed the order, I worried about if the anchors are strong enough to hold the camera body and a heavy lens. I finally pulled the trigger due to many good reviews from everywhere. After using it for a week, I'm confident the anchor system is not a problem at all. It feels durable and installation is super easy as advertised. SlideLite has the same width as original Sony strap with A7Rii, but much longer. I used it as a should strap and I felt it's much more comfortable. I knock off 1 star because the anchor and the buckle sometimes bangs in camera body. I don't care about the noise but I do concern if it'll finally scratch the surface of the camera body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing strap Absolutely love the product. The strap is made of very durable material and it is remarkably easy to use. The strap works well with my D5300 as well at the D750. I typically wear it as a sling or as a neck strap. I tried the wider version as well when I was in the store but did not find it as comfortable (too wide). The wider version does have padding which this one doesn't. Even on long hikes I haven't missed the padding though perhaps with a heavier camera or much heavier lens this would be better. Personally I am very happy with my purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Well designed but uncomfortable I'm posting this review for both the Slide and SlideLITE straps. After seeing them in the B&H store, I bought the larger one for my Canon 6D / big lenses and the smaller one for my Canon SL1 / small lenses (mirrorless killer, another story). I wanted to like these straps, but I returned both. I wear my camera crossbody, riding on my back hip just above my belt. My current camera straps have rubberized linings intended to keep them from slidingactually a hindrance to moving the camera smoothly from hip to eye. The Peak Design straps have a slippery seat belt style strap that was the main attraction for me. I have a similar material on my Patagonia MiniMass messenger bag, which I live with daily, and the slipperiness works: stays on my hip crossbody when I walk but easily slides front for access. So I loved the material of these straps, but here's what didn't work. First, the Slide is too long and stiff. The padded portion of the Slide (the SlideLITE is unpadded) gets in the way of shortening the strap, so it was too long by about 4 inches (I'm 5'8 and thin) since I want the camera just above my belt on my back hip. And the padded portion is too stiff. The SlideLITE is more comfortable, even for my heavier camera: wide enough, and I don't miss the padding. Even though the two straps are nominally the same length, the SlideLITE can go shorter because of the lack of padding, so it's better for a small person. Second, the buckles are uncomfortable. Turns out I don't want to change the strap length on the fly. I wear a camera crossbody on my back hipperiod. The buckles are as advertised: beautiful, fast, smooth, well constructed. But they are big enough that they are uncomfortable, both front and back, on both Slide and SlideLITE. Not superpainful, but annoying enough, particularly if I'm not going to use them. Third, the strap rides into my neck uncomfortably. The good news is the material slips to facilitate easy shifting from hip to eye. Attaching the strap to the tripod bracket (RRS L-bracket on 6D; Peak Design's bracket on SL1) accomplished its design goal of keeping the lens pointed down so the screen doesn't hit my back/belt. But somehow that closer-to-the-body positioning causes the strap to slide smoothly and uncomfortably into my neck as I walk. Other good points: The anchors are small, strong, and don't interfere with tripod mounting. The quick release system works well: quick, one-handed. Overall both straps are attractive and well made. Attaching to a bottom bracket keeps the lens pointed down: more comfortable on the back, though not on the neck (for me). As I said, I wanted to like these straps. But both straps' buckle and neck discomfort and the Slide's length sent me back to my neoprene straps.
