The General Brand 46mm Collapsible Rubber Lens Hood helps to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by shading the front element of the lens. Its collapsible, rubber design enables it to remain on your lens at all times without requiring much additional space and it also serves to protect the lens from accidental impact. This lens hood has a 46mm threaded screw-in design and is intended for use with normal focal lengths.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Doesn't like to stay collapsed Screws in fair, has a touch of bind halfway on, not a big deal. What is irritating is it will not stay collapsed so you can put a lens cap on it. Am trying to leave it stored collapsed to hopefully give it some memory. Does the job as a shade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for Panasonic Lumic 20mm lens Panasonic doesn't make a lens hood for their 20mm pancake lens, which is used on their micro 4/3 cameras. This hood works fine. It folds in two stages, and I cannot detect any vignetting even when it is fully extended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap, durable lens hood It's cheap, but it does its job rather well. I use this with the 20mm 1.7 lens, and given the fact that this is my usual go to lens, and since the lens makes it easy to carry my Panasonic GF-1, the fact that this hood can be folded in for added portability is icing on the cake! If you have the GF-1/20mm combo, this hood is highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect simple, cheap hood The rubber hood is perfect as a light, cheap hood that I don't have to remove from my camera. It does a decent job blocking light, as well as providing some protection around the lens front. It is best for normal lenses, as telephotos won't benefit from as much light blocking, and very wide lenses will get some vignetting. Overall money well spent given the low cost of this hood. I can only give it 4 stars as it is not as robust as some more expensive hoods, and only works really well on standard lenses, but for that, it does an excellent job!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for use to replace horizontal HD sense shade I bought this rubber lens hood to accommodate 46mm filters. My JVC GYM 150 lens hood must be removed and filter attached directly to the lens. Unfortunately I can only put one filter between the lens and the lens JVC hood. With the collapsible lens hood by General Brand, I remove the JVC lens hood and can place both an ND filter and a polarizer on the exterior of the lens hood, not in between the lens and the hood. Unfortunately, the circular nature of the General Brand lens hood show up on wide end of the camera lens, so it does not work well as a substitute for my JVC horizontal lens hood which gives me full wide end without seeing the lens hood. In order to double my filters, I now have to not use a lens hood and mount a flag to prevent flares.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Niftier than a metal or plastic hood I use this on my Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens. Collapses for packing/storage, pops out for shooting. Doesn't scratch if bumped against another camera (I work with two at once). Also, presses right against glass to minimize reflections when shooting through windows. Mine is ever so slightly off-center, but it still doesn't cause vignetting when used on this lens.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not ideal for use w/ Panasonic HDC TM900 Could not use this on top of the UV filer I use on my Panasonic HDC TM 900, not because of a threading problem, but because the lens hood projects too far forward, cropping the corners of all HD images when shooting at 24 mm wide angle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I bought this for my Mamiya C220 and was pleased that it threaded right onto my 80mm lens and does not show through the viewing lens and does not appear to vignette the taking lens. It is good quality, with firm, thick, rubber.
