    Benro A373F reviews

    A373F Series 3 Aluminum Video Tripod & BV6 Head is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Fantastic Fluid Head Combo Being in the outdoor filming industry, I spend a fair amount of time looking through a lot of new equipment each year to see if there is a new design or feature set that would make my life easier and when I first saw this Benro kit, it appeared that it could be operated with a single hand. After using this tripod kit on a few short film projects I can definitely say that this is a true statement. With the BV6, I can minimize the amount of movement that it takes to adjust several features of the head because of the single hand operational design. When filming wildlife, that is crucial. The pan and tilt can be adjusted with a single hand and with some practice, both can be adjusted at the same time. Even if you have smaller than average hands the pan and tilt locks are reachable because of there close proximity to each other. The pan lock tucks into the head nicely to avoid any unwanted snags when you don't have need of it. The tilt lock lever as well as the quick release plate lock lever has the ability to be pulled out away from the locking nut and rotated for further tightening in case the lock lever comes in contact with an accessory arm or the bottom of the camera. The release button for the quick release plate is also located on the same side as the other features and is large enough to find in the dark with ease. The pan and tilt adjustments range from a resistance free setting to a stiffness setting that could make the tripod begin to tip over if an extremely light weight camera was mounted on it and the operator tried to move the camera too quick. I have yet to feel any grinding in this head, just smooth movements at each setting. The counter balance is easy to set for any camera and it is very duplicatable with the measurement grid that is on top of the head. This feature definitely helps out when you take the time and set it prior to filming, especially when you have to be the audio tech and the cameraman at the same time and you have to take your hands off of the camera to make some audio adjustments on your field recorder. The multi stepped adjustments allow for quick adjustments for camera(s) that have interchangeable lenses as well. The telescoping arm is a nice extra and it is one that I use a lot depending on the set up location. What initially caught my eye with this tripod kit was the fact that the head could be leveled separately from the legs (75mm bowl). This is one of my key features that I have to have. There are times that I have to set the camera up in just a few seconds and at a moments notice. The BV6 with the A373F legs is a great combo when a speedy set-up is needed. Simply set the legs to the desired width, twist the locking handle to loosen and level the head and then twist the handle again to lock it down. Both the head and the legs have a leveling bubble and the head's bubble has a built in light for adjustment in the dark. Once again, this is another handy feature to have when filming in the outdoor industry, especially when on a turkey hunt. The light has an approximate burn time of 10 sec then it automatically turns off. Benro also sends an extra CR2032 battery as a backup for the lighted bubble. The BV6 uses the 501/504PL style plates and it comes with and additional 1/4 and 3/8 screw which can be mounted on the underside of the quick release mounting slot. I have used this tripod system as my base for a 9' jib and it seemed to handle the weight very well. The smooth pans (or swings) continued even with approximately 13-15lbs on the head. The legs give you great height flexibility. From the max height of 64 down to an approximate height of 12-14 you can achieve just about any angle that you desire. The carrying case for the tripod was also well thought out. It has good padding, an interior strap to secure the tripod and a seizable pouch to keep the spikes for the legs and some allen wrenches. A packable shoulder strap is also included in addition to the carrying handle. The only negatives that I have is dealing with the fluid adjustments WHILE FILMING and this is why I gave it a 4 STAR rating. I personally set the tension prior to filming so this rarely affects me but for those who may need to adjust the tension on the pan OR tilt during a shot, there IS a noticeable click. Because it is not a continuous tension adjustment but rather a stepped tension adjustment there are several steps to adjust to and at each step there is a click that would definitely be picked up by just about any quality audio set up. This is true of the counter balance adjustment as well. Another small negative could be the weight of this kit (approx. 9lbs) and that would depend on what you are use to and what camera that you use. I'm use to 12+ pound tripods so this was a long awaited weight lose for me. All in all, this is definitely a combo that I would recommend, especially to the filming crews that need a sturdy system that can be set up quickly. If weight is a concern, then the carbon fiber version should reduce your overall weight by about 1.5 pounds. Matt P

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this thing I've been doing professional videography for many years now and have always used Manfrotto. I went ahead and tried the BENRO because I've always heard good things and quite honestly I was looking for something really good and it was on Deal of the Day here at B&H. It was a fantastic decision. I honestly love everything about it. The fact that the head can be leveled is also a nice touch, something I haven't had with my Manfrotto. And the bubble level can be lit up with the touch of a button-also a really nice feature. The panning is so smooth all the way around. I really love all the controls. It's not heavy and it can hold over 13 lbs. I was really skeptical that I would like it like a Manfrotto, but let me tell you I love it!!! I highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for price! I have been in the market for a decent video tripod for a while with a small budget. A friend showed me the BH deal on this and I snapped it up. The fluid head is very smooth and I am a big fan of the latch legs with no spreader. Definatley feels cheaper than the Millers and Manfrottos I use at work but it is cheaper, a lot cheaper. If I see the deal again I will get another.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than it looks Very beefy strong legs. The joints are very solid and very sturdy base. Wish the tie-down knob would be smaller to take advantage of how low you can spread the legs to, but because of how long the tie-down knob is, you will have to extend the legs just a little bit to spread the legs all the way wide open. But you can purchase a short tie-down knob on ebay or right here on BH

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes, I have recommended it to many other photographers. Awesome travel tripod. I use it as a backup and when filming a travel show. I purchased a Cartoni in the same category. It did not have enough drag and began to leak after 10 months. Disappointed in Cartoni, I purchased the Benro. It has held up and performed flawlessly even after three trips around the world and heavy use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would definitely buy this again. Use this tripod as an alternate to my larger Manfrotto sticks with my Sony FS-5. Perfect size and weight with an excellent fluid head for run and gun location situations. Very sturdy, solid build, fast setup. Would be a great piece of gear for any geared up DSLR as well.
