question
Am I correct in assuming that you can store digital photo images on these? And that they far and away surpass the 700mb? Thank you!
Yes, they hold up to 25GB of any kind of data you want to write to them (including photos). 25GB is about 25,000mb). However, be aware you will need a Blu-ray burner that supports M-DISC media to burn these discs. If you have a Blu-ray burner that doesn't specifically support M-DISC media, you may be able to download a firmware update from the manufacturer to support M-DISC media. If the drive doesn't come with burning software, you can get free software on the web that will do the job.We have found that these are a good option if your internet service (like ours) is insufficient to upload photos to cloud backup, as long as you have a place off site to store them (we put them in our safe deposit box). However, because these discs will hold A LOT of pictures, just make sure to create a folder structure/index that will allow you to find photos in the future (at minumum, by year and/or subject). A little planning before you create the discs will save you tons of time in the future in the event you need to use them to locate specific photos.
