AutoTheory from Mozaic Beats is software that functions as a filter between a MIDI controller/keyboard and a user's DAW. The software intercepts the data from the controller and in turn sends eight virtual MIDI controllers into the DAW. This allows the user to play complex chord sequences with a single finger, or constrain melody-playing to notes within a chosen chord or key/scale combination.
For beginners, the tone-shifting properties of the melody lock make it easy for anyone to create complex melodies and bass lines that match any chord progression imaginable, without needing extensive knowledge of musical harmony. For the expert, the step-editing functions found within the Chord Editors allow users to customize each chord on a note-by-note basis, allowing for an open-ended approach to inversions, voicing, and extended chords.
