Tele Vue DeLite Reviews

Worth Every Cent. You Can't Go Wrong With Tele Vue.

I Bought The Tele Vue 7 Mm DeLite From B&H Photo & Video After Reading A Mountain Of Praise Online About Its Performance On The Moon And Planets. I’ve Now Used It Extensively With My Dobsonian Telescopes, And It’s Become One Of Those Pieces Of Gear That Immediately Earns Your Trust The Moment You Look Through It. The Eyepiece Itself: What Struck Me First Was The Clarity And Contrast. When I Aimed At The Moon, The Detail Was Razor-sharp. The Craters Looked Etched In Silver, And There Was Almost No Glare Or Ghosting Around The Bright Limb. On Jupiter, The Colour Neutrality And Fine Banding Really Stood Out; I Could Clearly See Subtle Differences In The Belts And Even A Hint Of Texture In The Polar Regions. Saturn’s Rings Looked Wonderfully Crisp, And The Darker Divisions Between Them Were Easy To Pick Out. A Big Plus For Me Is How Comfortable The Eyepiece Feels. The 20 Mm Eye Relief Makes Long Sessions Easy On The Eyes, Even With Glasses, And The Adjustable Eyeguard Locks Nicely Into Place. The Build Quality Feels Premium; Solid, Compact, And Beautifully Finished, Exactly What You’d Expect From Tele Vue. Optically, It’s About As Clean As Anything I’ve Looked Through. There’s Virtually No Internal Reflection Or Scatter, Which Is Impressive When You’re Studying Something As Bright As The Moon. The Image Stays Tight And Sharp Even When I Add A 2× Tele Vue Barlow, Which Says A Lot About The Optical Design. If I Had To Nit-pick, The Only Thing I’d Call A “drawback” Is The Field Of View. At 62°, It’s Not As Wide Or Immersive As My Nagler Or Delos Eyepieces, So It Feels More Like Peering Through A Precision Window Than Floating In Space. For Planetary Work That’s Fine, I Actually Prefer The Focus It Gives, But If You’re Hoping To Sweep Through Open Clusters Or Wide Nebulae, This Probably Won’t Be Your Go-to. It’s Also On The Pricey Side, But Considering How It Performs, I Can See Where Every Dollar Goes. In Short, The 7 Mm DeLite Is A True Performer. It Is Tack-sharp, Comfortable, And Beautifully Made. For Lunar And Planetary Observing, It’s One Of The Best Eyepieces I’ve Ever Used.

Not unexpected that this would be a great eyepiece, given that it's a Tele Vue. Filled in a gap I had in my collection.
