ZEISS's gray-black 8x25 Terra ED Compact Binocular gives you a competent and compact optic that fits easily in the palm of your hand. A combination of technologies work together to produce bright and clear images with increased contrast and true color rendition that include: Schmidt-Pechan roof prisms, Schott extra low-dispersion (ED) glass, and anti-reflection fully multicoated optics. The Terra ED is offered here in a8x power which provides a nice general purpose magnification with a generous field of view.

The lightweight housing is nitrogen-filled and o-ring sealed enabling it to withstand use in wet and snowy weather, and the rubberized armor offers protection from impacts while providing a slip-resistant grip. The Terra's double-hinge closed-bridge design allows it to fold compactly for an easy fit in most pockets or packs, while the knurled center focus wheel enables fast focusing. Twist-up eyecups make it comfortable to use with or without eyewear.

8x25 Terra ED Compact Binocular (Gray-Black) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic compact binoculars Just got back from Georgian Bay, Ontario, where I had tons of opportunities to use these wonderful binoculars. I am a small woman, and found them just ideal for a great combination of light weight, largish field of view, ease of use, and super-sharp resolution; our very tall male friend was very impressed by them, too, finding them easily adjustable to his wide-set eyes and comparing them favorably to his own binoculars. I did a bunch of research before buying and am completely satisfied with these for my purposes of general birdwatching and just seeing what's happening both far away and close-up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased For their compact size along with a compact price for a Zeiss offering these are very capable binoculars. The 8x25 terra ed pocket gives a very clear and bright image out to the edges. It has a robust yet light-weight feel to it with good grip pads. The diopter adjustment is on the front opposite the focus wheel which means you can't use a threaded tripod mount adapter, however once it is set to your vision it won't move on it's own. I do not use eyeglasses so I cannot attest to the eyecup positioning for those who do use eyewear, but with the eyecups fully extended they work fine and are comfortable. The focus wheel is a little stiff for my taste but hopefully will loosen up with use. These are made in JAPAN although I've read that the larger models in the TERRA series are made in CHINA. No lens caps are supplied and the microfiber carry pouch is useless. Zeiss makes a custom case for the pocket model but I have not seen it on the B&H website yet. Overall I'm very happy with this Zeiss offering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Optics In a word...Wow! Let me start by stating that I am a professional photographer and very fussy about optics. I am a huge fan of Leica, Zeiss, and Nikon optics. I intended to purchase these for my wife and ended up buying a second set for myself as well. These are very well made (made in Japan) and extremely clear binoculars! I compared these to a compact set of Swarovski binoculars and just could not see the value at more than 2X price of the Zeiss. These Zeiss binoculars are every bit as good as the Swarovski IMO. Please don't get me wrong...the Swarovski binoculars are outstanding, but optically I really couldn't discern a significant difference. The Terra EDs provide excellent eye relief (I wear glasses), and are quite comfortable to hold. Color rendition is superb, with fine details well rendered, throughout the field of view. The extreme edges become a little soft, but do not in any way detract from the stellar, overall, performance these deliver. Focus is smooth and easy (images pop right in or out of focus). The focus adjustment wheel is also large enough to work well with gloves. The supplied case is...well...they had to control cost somewhere. There are no lens caps provided, but again consider the price point. Also, I never use the caps, so to me this was not a big deal. I carry these in a Think Tank Photo Little Stuff; the fit is a bit snug, but it works just fine! I think these are best suited for travel, hiking, or concert/sporting type events. I recommend them without reservation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Travelers! Although I read glowing reports for these pocket Zeiss Terra ED 8x25 light carry binoculars, my previous 4 month ownership of the Swaro CL 8X25 pockets had tempered my expectations. However, I found these small glassing gems to perform optically and ergonomically within 95% of the venerable and well built CL's (at 1\3 the price)! They, just as the CL, have handling and comfort limitations compared to compact or full size binoculars. But for quick trip non-intrusive viewing, ease of portability and very accurate powered views, these little pockets are hard to beat. Overall, they possess very nice ergonomics, have natural color presentation, crystalline resolution that is real sharp and bright, with very good contrast views. Their FOV (field of view), whose sweet spot extends to within 10% of their wide 357ft limit, has a comfortable and stereoptic DOF (depth of field) . Hinge tensions are perfect, and the focuser is fast, going from close focus (mine's about 5ft) CW to infinity in just 1.25 turns. Eye cup adjustments lock fully in (for eye glass wearers) and fully out (non-eye glass wearers). My vision is 20\15 and with the very comfortable eye cups fully extended and resting on my brow, I can align the small EP (exit pupil=3.1) with my pupils, gaining a full unobstructed sigh picture! With its ED glass, CA (chromatic aberrations) is well controlled and I find day light\low light viewing to be bright, natural and enjoyable! Diopter is set on the front dial (for the right barrel) and has enough resistance to stay put. Made in Japan for Zeiss, they offer a lot of features and performance at a great value point. These will make great travel companions and will be back-ups for my full sized field excursion instruments!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this piece! I was looking for a smaller binocular to take along on hikes. I have 7x50 and 7x35, but find both too large for my needs. I had looked at many smaller binoculars in retail stores, but always find them dark and lacking in detail and contrast. These are not your typical smaller binoculars! This Zeiss is sharp, good eye relief, and has excellent contrast and color. The performance is hard to believe for a binocular of this size - highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was very tempted to keep these ... but I returned them. I need a lot of eye relief (19mm or more) and although these were very sharp and adorable -- just not enough eye relief.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Was skeptical, but now I'm a believer I read dozens of reviews before buying the Terra ED 8x25s, but I was still skeptical that an 8x25 binocular would be sufficient for me. I've tried many of the smaller objective lens binoculars over the years, and they have been (almost) universally awful--bad quality glass, tiny range, and the like. I bought the Terras for a trip to Switzerland, and was glad to save the weight and space that my 8x42s would have taken up. The Terras are clear, have no noticeable chromatic aberration, and I appreciate that the substantial eyecups click firmly into place at the top and bottom. My only very small gripes are that I'd like a way to lock the eyecups in position about an 1/8 out, where they best match the eye relief I need. But, in many years of birding, I have yet to find a binocular that achieves this perfectly for my needs. Instead, I tend to lock them fully in (eyeglasses position), and use my fingers at my eyebrow to move them slightly out from my eyebrow. Build is solid and seems to be resistant to scratching/damage. Superb binocular at an unbeatable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised These baby binos met my expectations. I also own 8x32 Zeiss Terras and 10x32 Zeiss Conquests. I bought the 8x25 Terras for travel, bike riding, canoeing and long walks due to their light weight and compactness. They shine with quality. Note that they are made in Japan, not China. Glass is sharp edge to edge. Field of view gives the big boys a run for the money - 357 ft. at 1000 yds. Obviously, they are not as bright as a larger objective lens bino, however, their compactness more than compensates for this weakness. These binos come with a fitted hard carry case that you can carry on your belt or hang around your neck. My wife prefers using these binos now over others that we own. They are perfect ultralights for an on-the-go lifestyle and are most comfortable to wear.
